MEGA There’s Still Hope for the ACCCG/CFB Playoffs Mega Merge Thread

Miami or Virginia are the only locks to make the playoffs if they win out. SMU, Pitt, and Duke would likely still be behind the Sun Belt and American champs and get left out entirely.

If the conference WANTS to make something happen, they sweeten it for those 2 teams. It should be easy to do for Duke vs Wake as it will likely be close. A call or 2 probably sways it.

Gonna need Cal and VT to make things close enough just to make it possible. Even Pitt/Miami.. might as well just favor Miami because Pitt winning that game still has slim chance to make the ACCCG if SMU/UVA also win.

Seems to me they intentionally scheduled games in the order they need to fall. Miami/Pitt first. If Pitt wins, just let the chips fall for the favored teams the rest of the day. If Miami wins - Duke and Wake at 3:30 so now we know we need to orchestrate the Duke loss. Then UVA/VT at 7:30, see if VT can be in the game early - more explanatory for VT to beat UVA like they always do than Cal beating SMU....If VT can't do it, make the call to the Ref out in Berkley that we have to keep Cal in this one at 8PM.
I disagree on one point
Pitt will get in if they win acc so will SMU
Pitt will have quality win over Miami and then whoever they play in acc champ
Same w SMU
Both imo would jump up in rankings to 15-20 range
The rest I tend to agree

They have zero justification to move ND ahead of OU when OU was ahead last week and they beat a "ranked" team. Yes, ND embarrassed Cuse, but that's Cuse.

I think the Top 11 will remain unchanged, except they may move Oregon to 6 and drop Ole Miss to 7. Other than that, the Top 11 teams from last week will be the Top 11 this week, in the same order, again except maybe Ole Miss/Oregon.

I expect Miami will be #12, Vandy #13, and Utah #14.

Nothing changes for us, we need to win and have one of Bama or OU lose, at least. Maybe you could convince me Ole Miss losing and Lane leaving drops them to 11, especially if they do move this week to 7, but I doubt it. And maybe you could convince me if they leave Oregon at 7, and they lose at Washington, we could jump them. Again, doubtful, but possible.

The cleanest way is OU and/or Bama to lose. IMO if even one of those happens, we're even money to make the playoff, at worst.

LSU over OU at 3:30
Auburn over Bama at 7:30
Washington over Oregon at 3:30
Miss St over Ole Miss Friday at noon

If none of those happen, we're dead.
Parlayed the ML for the 4 team we need to lose to win and we land at +230 odds.

Note it does not account for us being cursed.

I do think conference championship game losers may get left out this year depending on who it is

I can see a 10-1 BYU losing badly to Texas Tech “again” get left out with 2 losses in favor of a Miami.

I can see a two loss Bama team with a bad loss to FSU included, being left out with a bad loss to Texas A&M in the conference championship and 3 losses in favor of Miami. Not sure Bama fits the description of being the first team into the playoffs with 3 losses.

BYU sure. I'm not sure the media establishment will allow the loser of the SEC championship to be left out (even though they got in on some arbitrary tiebreaker in the first place whereas we got left out due to a similar thing).

Committee will almost surely put Vandy ahead of us like just the AP. Gives them another week to avoid the conversation.
Technically they have been ahead of us in the AP. We actually moved closer to Vandy. Went from 60 points to 27. Jumped Utah. Same with the coaches poll.

TrumpyCane knows its a bit of a different scenario but #1 UGA was undefeated when they lost to Bama in title game and got knocked down to 5

I have no doubt in my mind that IF we jump Utah, they'll stick Vandy ahead of us to avoid the ND conversation.

For Vandy, it all comes down to next week anyways.

seriously are you dyslexic?

Vandy plays Tennessee the final week of the season

that is 4 days.

why are you stating "NEXT WEEK"?!?

there is no next week for regular season games!

As long as we are within one spot of BYU, we can jump them when they lose to Texas Tech in the B12-CG.
Then we’d still need help, no? Because we’d be in the position Alabama was in last year. it’d be

9. Notre Dame
10. Alabama
11. ACC Champ
12. G5 Champ
13. Miami
14. BYU

You know what SHOULD happen if Oregon Loses to Washington is Miami and ND should be in.

If Oregon loses just compare them and ND. They will both be 2 loss teams with the same best win. Oregons losses will be “worse” in the sense Oregons losses will be against 2 and like 17, while ands will be against 3 and 11/12.

BUT Oregon is in Big10, so they are automatically in already imo.

I mean I still want them to lose just for the HOPE the committee would do the right thing. But I doubt it.

We have to jump Utah at minimum this week. And it would be real nice if we could jump BYI this week, though I doubt it

Yes. My bigger worry is if they move ND ahead of OU this week.

Also they are gunna over rank Oregon. If you compare ND and Oregon head to head, there really is no reason for them not to be ranked one behind the other. There is basically also no reason for Ole Miss to be this high either.

Alabama losing to OU truly ****ed us so god **** hard it’s ridiculous

I can see them moving ND ahead of OU to avoid the consequences of their stance this far on Miami though I don’t see how they really justify it but then again, they justify everything wrongly so there’s that too.

yes, we need Ou,Bama, or oregon to lose

Tennessee beating vandy, and Ohio State beating Michigan will also help

however, the committee released in writing that teams 9-12 are all compared and tonight we may fall within the same tier as ND so our real only hope at large wise is that happening
