MEGA There’s Still Hope for the ACCCG/CFB Playoffs Mega Merge Thread

Two 10 win seasons in a row is cool and all, but with the money invested into this team, no ACC Champ/playoff birth is an abject failure
This team has been good enough the last two years to make a run in either playoff. Our conference does us no favors in perception or on the field of play--where they cheat us week in and out, year after year. When will we learn: LEAVE THE ******* ACC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So basically if Miami wins out with a 10-2 record and no ACCCG, we’re not getting into the CFP?

Assuming there are no more upsets in front of us.
Personally I don’t believe this but it’s absolutely appalling to see Texas only drop to #17 after getting absolutely demolished by UGA yesterday. Like what in the actual ****? They have THREE losses!! How are they even ranked?!? The CFP is so desperate to put them in.

But part of me believes the CFP wants to get us in if we finish 10-2. Call me crazy. I just might be. For it to happen, they’d likely need to choose us over a few 10-2 teams. If Vandy finishes 10-2 I think they take us over them. If the point is getting the best teams in there’s they need to put us in. Not doing so would be criminal as there is absolutely no logical argument that can be had otherwise. We have first round draft picks on this roster. Better wins. We are better. Period.

Some of these 2 loss Big12 teams I could see us getting a nod over. At #14 in the AP, we’re right there. Who knows, maybe Tuesday they’ll put us at #13. Beating NCST might be our most impressive, complete game this season. Defense absolutely dominated. Annoyed we didn’t get the shutout we deserved however.

After the SMU loss most believed the season was pretty much over and a losing streak on the horizon. As difficult as the path to the playoffs appears, paths do remain. Of course i wish we just took care of business like Ohio State but we are here now and here is not that bad of place, winning ball games convincingly and being right on the edge of the playoffs.

ESPN’s math seems off.

Texas AM 99%
Bama 84%
Texas AM should be favored and 11-3 bama shouldn’t get in.

It’s ACC title or bust. There’s not enough opportunity for teams ahead of us to lose.

This model means virtually nothing. They have JMU at 52.4% when JMU literally has 2-3% chance of making the playoffs (if Duke wins out and wins the ACC-CCG).

Tulane and North Texas are the group 5 teams that matter. Tulane beat ECU, northwestern and Duke. North Texas beat navy. Louisville beat JMU.

Idk how their tiebreakers work; right now Tulane and north Texas are in a 4 way tie with navy and ECU. ECU winning the CCG; along with Duke winning the CCG; would give JMU a chance.

Army went 12-1; winning the American with a their only loss being against notre dame; and didn’t get in.

we aren't afforded the luxury of getting curb stomped by FSU or losing 2 as every other team is
ACC is a joke with unbalanced schedule to determine championship game
but still see many paths in at 10-2

Did you just blame the conference for losing to SMU and Louisville?
Alabama lost to FSU, which is a million times worse. Texas lost to Florida and went to OT against the two worst teams in their conference. Utah got hammered by Texas Tech and their best win is Cincinnati. Vandy’s best win is…. Idk who, and they got smoked twice. Notre Dame lost to us.

This fanbase’s insistence on acting like everyone else and holding this program to a different standard than everyone else is insane.

Failure to reach the playoffs is a failure on a part of Mario Cristobal but for right now we need to just beat Virginia Tech
Think we’d be the only p4 team with twenty regular season wins in the last two years who didn’t make the playoffs.

Someone can correct me if I’m wrong. BYU is liable to be in the same category too.
