MEGA There’s Still Hope for the ACCCG/CFB Playoffs Mega Merge Thread

I don't think there's any way a 2-loss Vandy gets in over 2-loss Miami.

THIS IS A TV SHOW

it's why FSU got left out in 2023. Nobody wanted to watch them in there with their garbage backup QB.

People can talk about "SEC bias." That doesn't apply to Vandy. No one cares about them.

Never forget that this is a TV show.

The main teams we need to be concerned about are Bama and OU. One of them needs to lose another game.

We absolutely need OU or Bama to lose. There are only 2 spots up for grabs. If Bama and OU are both 10-2, they’ll get both, and the $EC will get 5 teams in. This is beyond easy to see.

The only way Miami gets in is if Bama or OU lose. It still might take more, but we can have the Utah/BYU/Vandy debates later. All of those teams are behind a 10-2 OU and Bama. So domino #1 is one of those 2 has to lose.

OU has 2 home games. Mizzou and LSU. Mizzou is at noon on Saturday, so while you’re watching us against VT, keep an eye on that one.

BYU won’t get dinged for a title game loss. Remember smu last year
The difference between these two scenarios is that in the case of SMU-Clemson; the team with more losses won the game. Iowa State didn’t get in with their 10-3 record.

Committee ranked everyone like this:

9. Boise State at 12-1
10. SMU at 11-2
11. Alabama at 9-3
12. Arizona State at 11-3; XII Champs
13. Miami at 10-2
14. Ole Miss at 9-3
15. South Carolina at 9-3
16. Clemson at 10-3; ACC Champs
17. BYU at 10-2
18. Iowa State at 10-3; lost to ASU in the CCG

BYU actually beat SMU to the start the year off but lost their conference championship tiebreaker. Worst case scenario is this time around we are BYU; although SMU did not have the quality control that ND had.

Weird graphic that means very little imo. Army went 11-1 last year and was ranked 22nd; didn’t make it in. North Texas/Tulane will be the G5 team. But lmao at Texas still having a better shot; this model is cooked

There is likely a logjam of 10-2 teams. OU and Miami would have head to head wins against teams in that 10-2 pod. That is going to have to matter. I totally understand the skepticism but I don’t see a world where ND gets in and Miami doesn’t. Would Alabama get in over OU? The head to heads matter once all games are played.

The distinction here is that Bama had way better wins than we did last year. The huge difference for us this year, which is why we're still firmly in the discussion, is that we have solid wins.

Bama has an arguably better win than Miami with UGA. However, we have a common opponent in FSU. We beat them, Bama got pummeled by them week 1. So yes, there's a good chance that 10-2 Miami gets in over 10-3/9-3 Bama.
Yes, I am agreeing with you. I believe a 10-2 Miami will get in this year before a 9-3/10-3 Bama. But, I don't believe a 10-2 Miami gets in before a 10-2 Bama if that's how the season ends for both teams. Bama needs one more loss.

Yeah I would have liked our chances a LOT better if OU lost yesterday.
But I still think there will be a debate about Miami in ahead of ND if we win by 2+ TDs the next 2 games.

They can't just ignore the head to head and we both have same records and similar strength of schedule..and we have much better wins than them.

Their own criteria are:
Record
Strength of schedule
Head to head
Performance against common opponents.
Etc etc
There will not be a debate. Don’t set yourself up.

The ref show has been blatant and obvious in every close SEC game where a highly ranked team played a **** one. You’re out of your mind if you think this won’t be the most egregious. It’s gonna be the entire ESPN and SEC machine vs Auburn that night. It’ll take nothing less than an act of god for Auburn to win.

Got to respect the SEC for backing their league and the commissioner begging for more spots.

What is the AcC doing to push more teams in? Nothing? Miami has to get to the BIG as soon as possible .

The entire thing is rigged for the SEc right now with espn owning their rights and packaged deal

Utah and BYU are far better than GT and UVA. They'd both be 7+ point favorites vs them. GT and UVA have been two of the luckiest teams in the country.
GTech has been no more lucky than anyone else. They happen to have one of the best players in the country, at the most important position, who literally wills them to wins. The guy should win the Heisman if they win out.

The committee wants Miami AND Notre dame in. And there’s a clear path to do it given Miami wins by double digits every game from here on out as expected.

Maybe they do. But ESPN wants 5 SEC teams in. And they’re going to get it if Bama and OU win out.

If you think 10-2 Miami is getting in over 10-2 Bama or 10-2 OU, well, I need you to pass that **** this way.

Being favorites means nothing. Bama was the favorite yesterday over Oklahoma. GT and Virginia would beat BYU and Utah

I don’t see a way 5 SEC teams and ND get in with 10-2 Miami left out. Don’t see it.
