MEGA There’s Still Hope for the ACCCG/CFB Playoffs Mega Merge Thread

Wake beating Duke, VT beating UVA, us beating Pitt, and SMU beating Cal is by far the most likely way in as the previous poster highlighted

the funny thing is if both UVA AND SMU lose it gets more complicated so we specifically need SMU to beat cal in the scenario that UVA loses to VT

here's all the ways

As I mentioned a few days ago, we don’t necessarily need Duke to lose. But good luck figuring out the SportSource Analytics ranking.

Straight from the ACC website:

Miami clinches a spot in the championship game with:

  • Win + UVA loss + DUKE loss + SMU win OR
  • Win + SMU loss + DUKE loss + UVA loss + NCSU win OR
  • Win + SMU loss + DUKE loss + UVA loss + UNC win + SYR win OR
  • Win + SMU loss + DUKE loss + UVA loss + UNC win + BC win + Finish higher than GT & SMU in SportSource Analytics ranking OR
  • Win + SMU loss + DUKE loss + UVA win + NCSU win + SYR win OR
  • Win + SMU loss + DUKE loss + UVA win + NCSU win + BC win + Finish higher than GT & SMU in SportSource Analytics ranking OR
  • Win + SMU loss + DUKE win + UVA loss + NCSU win OR
  • Win + SMU win + DUKE win + UVA loss + NCSU win + Finish higher than DUKE in SportSource Analytics ranking

Clear as mud

does that ranking load for anyone else?

View attachment 344098

this scenario gives me major hope

I assume we finish above duke in every possible way but idk because I can't get that ranking tool to load
I just got a bunch of sliders without an ability to compare teams. Am on phone though. If it works probably works on a computer

this is a great example of why the acc is trash

sports source analytics was acquired by trackingfootball

you need a paid subscription to their rankings

I imagine though, we're above all teams in the acc if we win out

You think ACC has subscription already or are saving money and will only buy if they need it for tiebreaker

Would love to see what ND does without the ACC

SEC or Big X certainly don't need there ***
Neither needs them but both would roll out the red carpet out to have them. Big Ten’s media deal includes a built-in increase if ND joins, if I'm not mistaken.

The sports source rankings = Miami >>>>>> Duke, like any ranking system in existence

Would be so much easier if this Mickey Mouse league just said highest ranked team gets the tiebreaker

Wrong. Completely wrong.

There will be a re-rank after conference championships, and there WILL be movement.
I know noone believes me and I keep saying it on all the threads but I believe the committee is trying to avoid any in or out scenario due to title games.

We will jump BYU with a W in Pittsburgh. I also think if Bama struggles at all with Auburn and ND blows out Stanford we may jump Bama as well. They would only do this if they intend to move us ahead of Bama if they lose the SEC title game. This would preserve their narrative that losing a title game wont cost you a playoff spot.

Disclaimer: I only believe this would happen if they planned to drop Bama behind us with a loss in their title game. The ranking next week would not matter to Bama cause if they win their title game they get in automatically.

There is no chance I'm searching through 2,840 posts, so....

Who do we root for this weekend to get into the ACC Championship game? I think I get the at large breakdown.
Don’t even need Wake over Duke. VT over UVA and we’re in (assuming NCST and BC win)

Need Duke to lose if Virginia wins and SMU loses
