1. Fam, I don't know if Cronkrite really has a problem with the staff's RB recruitment or not. Seems like a solid kid so I highly doubt it.
2. I was referring to Cronkrite's mindset not the poster's. I know it's not the 80s but I wish every RB recruit had the same mindset as Duke Johnson during his recruitment. Do you think it would've mattered to Duke if the staff changed the number of RB recruits?
3. My main point is this is the U! 5 national championships, the top producer of NFL running backs, period. There is no other program like it in college football. Get in and build it back up.
Idc either I'm just saying maybe that's his mindset.
What I can tell you about this is that look at the history of schools that brought 3 RBs in at once and see how things broke down from there. One of the biggest differences now as opposed to when we had a stable is because there were upperclassmen and everyone knew you work your tail off and wait for your opportunity. Our depth chart is very young once Duke is removed and for a RB there are only so many reps someone will get left out. Funny thing is he is the only one that has let it be known about not being cool with it but trust me he isn't the only one thinking that. RBs are now a dime a dozen and these kids know that and that's why it's important to get on the field and show what you can do early.
He has never said the staff lied to him and he has had many conversations with the staff about this and is choosing to see how the staff handles the situation. He committed to a situation that fit him best and just so happens to be his favorite but what many people fail to realize is this is a business decision and you have to take the emotion out of the decision and think logically. Sometimes you have to take off the orange and green sunglasses.
I assume the answer is no, but do you have any idea if Cronkrite has put any consideration into possibly playing safety in college? He's certainly athletic enough to pull it off and has a few plays in his highlights that jump out from his time playing on the defensive side of the ball.
As you mentioned, RBs are considered a dime a dozen now whereas safety is becoming more of a premium position in the league (as evidenced by contracts signed by Earl Thomas and Jairus Byrd, among others, this offseason). I recall Charles Perry saying in an interview a while back that he wants to play LB instead of RB in college in part because they generally have longer playing careers and are the ones inflicting the punishment rather than taking it.
I'm not asking this with orange and green glasses, hoping that he'd flip to defense and allow us to keep all of our stud RBs (including Cronk). I'm just curious regardless of where he ends up playing in college.
