The Work 6-19

About to see a bunch of "Brinni not as good as Edwards anyway"

Brini is good, no doubt, but he's not elite. He's the type of player we need to keep home. He's one of them that just seem to be looking to leave south florida for whatever reason. I'd gladly take Edwards or Brini.

But Edwards seems like the more athletic of the two and his ceiling is higher imho. Right now Brini is better, in 3 years I'd bet Edwards is better. If we can land Blades, Jobe, Frierson, and maybe 1 or 2 of Samuel Jr, Campbell, Surtain, etc in 2018.. Brini will not be missed whatsoever.

i dont even think he is better now..His comp is suspect at Mater Academy...Edwards been going against big dog div 1 wr since he was a freshman
I've been told at safety though not CB

he played cb the whole spring game against dillard that i was at..and lloked good. We had Coach Kool, Banda at that game as well

Honestly I feel like this staff isn't too worried about the DB recruiting this year, and maybe even doesn't want to bring in too many, because they know how stacked next years class will be.

That would be ridiculous. The '18 guys (if we actually end up gettin them) won't arrive on campus until 2018. We do need to win games in the next two years, don't you think? Our CB talent looks just plain weak right now. I wouldn't be surprised if our CB situation costs us a couple games this year. And we lose our best guy (Corn) after this season. We need some CBs and the sooner the better.

Having said that, it's June. Lots will happen in the next 8 months. Near names will appear.

So Henderson, Edwards, Bandy, Wilson, Gibson feels like a strong possibility

If we can land those guys, nobody we don't get in this class will be missed.

That's what I'm saying. We do need guys asap in the 2017 class that can step in and play in 2017 season, though. But once that season is over.. 2018 is taking over.

Henderson is a need, his ceiling is off the charts. I think the only 2017 CB that can hang with that 2018 class outside of Henderson is Marco Wilson. If we NEED one CB in 2017 it's him. Also, Bandy is the goods, but he's different than Blades, Samuel, Surtain, etc etc. I see Jobe and Frierson playing safety at UM.

Man ya'll r killing me w the next year crap. That swan song is dead. You don't get elite by recruiting next year; you get elite by recruiting this year and the year thereafter, and the year thereafter!

There's no guarantee that the elite crop of 2018 kids will commit to us; then what? Wait to the next elite group of 2019??

Bama ain't talking about 2018; neither is FSU, OSU, Clemson, and other top tier programs. They are arming themselves now! When u arm now, then there's a pretty good chance you are going to be armed the following year as well.

Kids want playing time, sure, but they want to be associated with winners. They want to be associated w schools that pump out 1st rounders.

This soft shouldered "if" game we've been playing regarding recruiting has to got to stop. I can care less of the 2018 class b/c we have a talented 2017 So Fla class getting away w us, and if we don't win this season, bet $ all those prospects you're banking on for 2018 will flee too, w the exception of Blades Jr.

I'm not sweating it, but when people start pointing to the next class it reminds me of the wide receiver stuff from years back. Preston Parker ring a bell....don't worry, we got him coming. His class is loaded and then we're eventually trotting out punter out there at wide receiver just so we can practice.

Long way to go. Have a **** season, I'll worry. Until then, call me unconcerned.

I'm with the others. We can't be relying on the 18 class, esp at position of need like CB. We need ballers every season to stack up recruiting classes if we are to ever be elite again.

Richt is known as a great recruiter but right now he is off to an average start. Its only June so hopefully he has an idea moving forward to lock down some ballers.

It sucks to be patient but... got a lot of time to go. Think about it, the elite players want to compete at schools that are elite. We all know Miami has the potential to be there this season, and so do the recruits, they just wanna see it first before signing the next 4 years of their life away to that school. Let them be smart about their choices, and let this 2016 canes squad show out

While winning will certainly help, good recruiters are able to sell their product even after so-so seasons. At CB, there's no excuse for not cleaning up. S. Florida is almost always loaded and we have playing time to offer in spades.

But again, it's a long time to signing day. Where some of these kids are leaning now may not be where they end up signing in February.

Wayyy too many people on here panicking. Y'all been conditioned by the last group of losers we had employed down here. You see little things like this and start going into that "here we go again" mode. CHILL! Richt didn't survive and succeed at UGA for 15 years at an SEC school by failing on the trail and missing out on top targets. The state of GA produces the 4th most D1 guys annually and has just started to creep into the conversation of becoming the Big 4 w FL, TX and CA. Richt knows talent and is used to seeing it, evaluating it and recruiting it.

Right now Richt is feeling out his new areas and evaluating who truly has the goods and who doesn't. Most of the content in this edition from Pete is merely guys moving up/down on the staffs board due to those evaluations. Let's not forget, Richt hasn't been recruiting most of these kids as long as a lot of our competition, and imo relationships matter more in FL and SFL specifically than anywhere else due to the fickle nature of the recruits down here. So this "honeymoon" class everyone is speaking of won't just happen automatically, it will take time. So the fact that it's JUNE and everyone is freaking out is very unnecessary. Harbaugh didn't get where he did at Michigan overnight(well technically w some recruits yes, but you get the point lol). It takes until NSD to finish a class and there is plenty of time left. OVs haven't even started yet. Summer is just beginning and now we will start to see a wave of visitors from 2017 kids, especially the OOS guys that have the free time available to actually make it down now w their teams and coaches, or families on vacation. So just relax and let Richt work.

Don't let your insecurities from the last staff cloud your perception. Everything is going to plan right now, we are well on our way to a Top 10 class.

It's June.

is a post that has been made every june for the past decade and has been shown to be incorrect every february.

What does this mean?
Are you suggesting that recruiting classes are etched in stone 8 months before signing day?
Someone find me the posts where people were ripping Tracey Howard's mom for pushing her son to Gainesville......how did that work out?

Do not understand Brini choosing Dawgs because they are going to sign a clSs of DBS this year about like the Canes are expecting in 18. Guess he is not afraid of a lot of 4 and 5 star competition.
