Honestly the kevin beard hire by UGA was brilliant. James coley helps as well but he we will be ran off in 2 years anyways. Beard is the man down there. The kids love him and hes got connects down there. He will be a thorn just like scott now that they are both in the SEC. Two teams to look out for down here while they are there.

LOL. Beard couldn't recruit at UM, but now he's a monster recruiter as a support staff guy at UGA who isn't even allowed to recruit?

Dingle is a hardnosed Cane; Davis is one of those soft *** Gators. Dingle roughed him and his pretty hair up.

Brini never stood out to me other than his height and length. I'd gladly swap Bandy in for Roberts and Edwards in for Brini. Plus, word is Brini is soft.

You are right. Maybe he'll eventually become a good recruiter but at the moment he is not. He doesn't know how to evaluate talent. Hiring local high school coaches is overrated anyway... That being said Beard's impact will be minimal...

It's June.

is a post that has been made every june for the past decade and has been shown to be incorrect every february.

What does this mean?
Are you suggesting that recruiting classes are etched in stone 8 months before signing day?
Someone find me the posts where people were ripping Tracey Howard's mom for pushing her son to Gainesville......how did that work out?

it means, every june, some fans voice concern over our top level targets committing or looking elsewhere. and every june, there are countless posts saying "its june", implying that guys are concerned over nothing because in 8 months it will all work itself out... which has not been the case. simply saying "its june" adds zip to the convo except the acknowledgment of one's mastery over the Gregorian calendar. if "its june", and none of this matters, why are we(or more relevantly, YOU) even here having these discussions?

The reason why things haven't worked out in recent years is because the team sucked during the season. Every year, there'd be guys on the fence about coming to Miami. Some dudes were hard leans others were playing games but by the end of the year most of the guys would jump off the wagon because they saw what was happening to Miami on the field and wanted no part of that. You can't pretend success on the field doesn't impact recruiting. Miami wins some big games this season, maybe beats FSU and a lot of these guys will have a change of heart.

Pete Jhavonte Dean got offered today. I guess they are not waiting to see how the class will shape up before offering JUCO guys.

Why do people constantly comment the "8 months away" or the "Its only June"... if you think none of this matters at this time, why are you on the recruiting section of this forum? Go away and come back in January to see where we stand.

About to see a bunch of "Brinni not as good as Edwards anyway"

Brini is good, no doubt, but he's not elite. He's the type of player we need to keep home. He's one of them that just seem to be looking to leave south florida for whatever reason. I'd gladly take Edwards or Brini.

But Edwards seems like the more athletic of the two and his ceiling is higher imho. Right now Brini is better, in 3 years I'd bet Edwards is better. If we can land Blades, Jobe, Frierson, and maybe 1 or 2 of Samuel Jr, Campbell, Surtain, etc in 2018.. Brini will not be missed whatsoever.

If we can land those guys, nobody we don't get in this class will be missed.

That's what I'm saying. We do need guys asap in the 2017 class that can step in and play in 2017 season, though. But once that season is over.. 2018 is taking over.

Henderson is a need, his ceiling is off the charts. I think the only 2017 CB that can hang with that 2018 class outside of Henderson is Marco Wilson. If we NEED one CB in 2017 it's him. Also, Bandy is the goods, but he's different than Blades, Samuel, Surtain, etc etc. I see Jobe and Frierson playing safety at UM.

Man ya'll r killing me w the next year crap. That swan song is dead. You don't get elite by recruiting next year; you get elite by recruiting this year and the year thereafter, and the year thereafter!

There's no guarantee that the elite crop of 2018 kids will commit to us; then what? Wait to the next elite group of 2019??

Bama ain't talking about 2018; neither is FSU, OSU, Clemson, and other top tier programs. They are arming themselves now! When u arm now, then there's a pretty good chance you are going to be armed the following year as well.

Kids want playing time, sure, but they want to be associated with winners. They want to be associated w schools that pump out 1st rounders.

This soft shouldered "if" game we've been playing regarding recruiting has to got to stop. I can care less of the 2018 class b/c we have a talented 2017 So Fla class getting away w us, and if we don't win this season, bet $ all those prospects you're banking on for 2018 will flee too, w the exception of Blades Jr.

Truth. "Just win and they will come" relies on the iffy proposition that your lower-ranked recruits will pull off multiple upsets in big games against top talent...Yeah, Ed Reed was a two-star and Ray Lewis was a QB prospect, but it is 2016 and the shoe companies are turning football recruiting into the basketball model.

Waiting is akin to sitting...Like a Sitting Ibis

I know this is of no consequence...but I don't remember Ray being a QB prospect. He was a badass wrestler though. My grandma used to drive the Lake Gibson wrestling team to all their matches and I used to ride the bus. I remember riding the bus to Kathleen and watching an undersized Ray Lewis absolutely dumptruck our heavyweight...he was a beast.

Honestly I feel like this staff isn't too worried about the DB recruiting this year, and maybe even doesn't want to bring in too many, because they know how stacked next years class will be.

That would be ridiculous. The '18 guys (if we actually end up gettin them) won't arrive on campus until 2018. We do need to win games in the next two years, don't you think? Our CB talent looks just plain weak right now. I wouldn't be surprised if our CB situation costs us a couple games this year. And we lose our best guy (Corn) after this season. We need some CBs and the sooner the better.

Having said that, it's June. Lots will happen in the next 8 months. Near names will appear.

It would be ridiculous to plan ahead for what looks like an absolutely loaded DB class in 2018? I'm not saying don't take good players for the 2017 class. Ultimately if the staff views someone as great talent and a take, then they are a take. But that doesn't mean they aren't looking ahead and planning to take 1-2 fewer than they would if 2018 wasn't stacked (and we were in the same ****** DB situation we are currently in).

I'm not sweating it, but when people start pointing to the next class it reminds me of the wide receiver stuff from years back. Preston Parker ring a bell....don't worry, we got him coming. His class is loaded and then we're eventually trotting out punter out there at wide receiver just so we can practice.

Long way to go. Have a **** season, I'll worry. Until then, call me unconcerned.

I mean what I said was just purely fact. If in 2018 we land Blades, Jobe, Frierson, Surtain/Samuel Jr, they will easily cancel out misses.

Actually Golden's classes generally looked fantastic in June, then lost key commits as signing day approached.

Getting commitments in June or earlier is nice, but getting signed LOIs in February is what counts. There's a long, long way to go before these kids make their final decision. Some of these guys will change their mind a few times in the next 8 months. And new names will emerge.

Looks like we might be losing Henderson tomorrow based off his tweet -Announcement tomorrow @ 2
