Pete is some kind of in love with Kaaya - take his commentary with an entire can of salt

Exactly...

I find this quote quite telling...

"We will see if Golden has the guts to go with a true freshman starter if he truly deserves it. At this point, a move like that seems like the only thing that could re-excite the fan base, not that Golden will be factoring in the fans’ opinion into his decision." - How bout some impartiality here Pete...****. Just take out "the fan base" and add "me" instead.

Here's my notes

*Olsen being our guy.

*Duke is Duke, obviously carrying the ball like a madman. Looks more and more like Yearby will be the #2 an the one to take over after Duke finishes here. Gus hasn't created enough separation.

*Coley is an animal
* I'm stoked and excited and it's what I expected, Lewis is healthy again.
* We will have a main 5 of Coley, Dorsett, Waters, Lewis and Scott. Obviously Coley being the lead.
* Jones made big strides, will
Get some time too
* Berrios would have benefited from spring, but will be a good one either sooner or later

*walford obviously our #1 at TE to start season
*dobard making strides did not surprise me at all.
I expected it.
*sandland not moving up. Doesn't come as surprise to me.

* the oline making big strides. KC and Darling progression through season must be watched, Odogwu is another year or two away

* Kamalu is a freak
* Chick has to work hard
* McCord and Quan will live in the backfield of the opposing offense
* we need help at DT obviously
* Chad gonna make an impact this year
*jelani hasn't taken the step, like others who were expected actually did.

* Figs and Kirby stepping up is very good.
* Demzel is Denzel, will rack up the numbers as a tackling machine.
* Grace is good but must bulk but will be a tremendous upgrade.
* Young is not mentally ready but one when he puts it together... Oh boy
* Owens is gonna make plays
* Nothing really notable on armbrister and blue part

* Tracy ready for big time plays
* Gunter still hurt
* Artie an Hope progressing
* Elder and Dortxh just came back from injury

* Deon took the next step and is healthy
* Carter is a physical freak and has made strides
* Dallas is a true football player
* It's basically whoever wins out between Carter, Dallas and Jenkins will be the guy next to Deon and their will be rotation.
*Hester will play too

I'm leaning towards Carter and Dallas, leaning more towards Carter. Being next to Deon.

Having Monroe play WR was up there also.......

Kaaya winning the job would not make me excited at all. If a kid comes into a program and gets the starting nod after being there for 3 months, that is very scary.
Me neither. I keep seeing people state that Olsen's start here at Miami is similar other great QB's that redshirted. If anything his career has started out more like Robert Marve than anyone else's. We'll see...

Manziel got arrested. Winston may have raped someone. All during their redshirt year. Then you have Marve. You can't make a connection either way.

Manziel and Winston also put the work in during practice and looked like all-stars from the get-go. Olsen has been less than stellar on the field so far, and has had off-the field issues too.

Actually Manziel wasn't even the leader going into spring ball his redshirt freshman year. He wasn't a very good decision maker.

Still isn't...bust written all over him.

While Monroe was actually a pretty decent athlete, you can't get much lower than having to play your scholarship punter at WR due to depth issues, especially at a school like the U.

Well, you could use your TE as your primary kick returner

Pete's absence in this thread is interesting. People are questioning your evaluations, curious to hear your argument.

I know everybody is excited about the Safety position but I think it's mainly because you people are in love with their athleticism and stature... cause they haven't done **** yet this spring. Minus a couple decent hits from Bush and Crawford they have been absent. I need to see plays made ON THE BALL. Do any of our Safeties even have a pick yet this spring? Every time a practice video surfaces all I see is our CB's being toasted and our Safeties missing in action. And two of the players that all of you are most in love with, Carter and Burns, have been some of the most common victims.

I'll hold onto my excitement for now.

I'm not sure why anyone including yourself is making so much out of practice clips. We get 6 plays or so every two to three days. How many plays of 11 on 11 happen in a practice or controlled scrimmage.? Serious question. I don't know. I saw Bush make a spectacular play when Coley ran a post in a past video. Great technique and position. You were crushing Gunter because of fall practice clips last year. He wasn't spectacular in season but that supposed poor practice play that we tried to analyze from Canes Camp reports didn't become a reality in the season for him.

Well if the Safeties were making plays they would be on the clips, no?

Everybody else's stand-out plays make the clips. *shrug*

WildCat loves to rain in on parades.
Don't know what clips you been watching, but the improved safety play is being seen from their physical play especially in the run game where Carter, Bush and Crawford have stood out.
And don't know any safety in the nation that would be able to cover Coley deep. Especially with QB's not being hit.

Raining on parades? I'm sorry I'm not waving my pom poms around like some of you. I'm a realist. Our safeties haven't gotten any picks yet this spring, have they? If our WR's weren't catching TD's you'd be concerned. If our DE's weren't getting any sacks you'd be concerned.

Nobody is asking safeties to cover 1-on-1. I just wanna see them in the picture somewhere when the offense is bombing the **** out of us every practice.

Kevin Olsen overthrows intended receiver and it's picked off by S Jamal Carter for #UM #Canes

You asked for it Wildcat. You got it.

Kid sucks bench him

nothing shocking in here although from what i've read it seems like Gus has been better than described here. The olsen/williams thing annoys me - i think it is symptomatic of Golden not actually providing an open competition and always going with the experienced guy. DLine continues to concern.

Or maybe Williams is/was just that far ahead of Olson. Why can't people grasp this concept?
