Charlie Strong is so far down my list, to even see the page he's on, I'd have to use a flashlight.

The only reason he was successful at the LOU was because of a coach and recruiting coordinator that can't put a foot on a college campus for a while.

UT isnt going to fire Strong but they arent going to beg him to stay either if he wants to come. Thats for **** sure. I think Strongs interest is legit. I think Herman and Fuente are full of it and are using us. I wouldnt mind Strong if the BOT/Miller/Dimare just dont want to hire Butch. He is getting dealt a bad hand at UT. They have ZERO talent when Mack left. Just look at their recent drafts as proof. Whens the last time a UT player was a 1st/2nd round pick? He is literally building it from the ground.

He wont have that problem here. He already has talent at his disposal. We just need guys to coach them up and make this successful.

Where to we begin....

Bold Part: Getting dealt a bad hand? He VOLUNTARILY walked into the situation. He is CURRENTLY employed. How is he being dealt a bad hand? He can't win, he is regressing...where is the bad hand? Do you mean to say that he shouldn't have tried to compete with the big boys at the bigger level? I think that is what you mean.

Underlined Part: Enough talent? Is this real life? He doesn't have enough talent to SCORE on Iowa State? Perhaps he has no idea what he is doing? Perhaps his talent advantage (he had at UL) was a way to mask his terrible coaching skills? Why do you need 1st and 2nd round picks to have a winning record? Why you need 1st and 2nd round picks to avoid getting **** rapped by Iowa State?

Maybe he isn't a good HC?

If you dont like Strong, that is fine. Reality is, his situation will be better here then it was at UL and UT combined when he first walked in. Reality is, UT has no talent. They are UM back in 97' when freshmen were leading the team. Reality is, he wont have long to turn it around and if you think he was going to lead UT to any promised land within 3 years you havent been watching UT football and you are stuck in the 2005-2008 era. UT has been bad for awhile.

You seem pretty worked up over this...(shrugs) Does it matter in the end? Not like hes actually coming. (Neither is Herman for that matter. You guys get all worked up knowing **** well none of these coaches are coming here. Happened when we hired Randy and happened again when we had to settle for Al... Wash, rince, repeat...Im just glad Butch wants the job.)

wrong. he got players from south florida to come there and they were THE GOOD ONES.

And WHO do you think the coach/recruiting coordinator was that got the GOOD ONES?

has anyone ever failed so miserably at such a major program and then gone on to succeed elsewhere? I can't think of anyone off the top of my head. that would be Strong coming here because he has blown it at Texas completely

Reality is he is regressing and not performing up to the same level of the previous coach (who was fired). So it isn't about time, it is about a coach who is REGRESSING. Perhaps if Strong was showing IMPROVEMENT, he would be given 3-4 years. Perhaps he will still be given another year, who knows. He has all the resources at UT, he has the ability to handpick and pay a chit ton for any staff he wants. He won't have the access to those resources at UM. If he fails at UT, he will fail at Miami.

Perhaps you're digging in 100% and refusing to admit Strong is failing at UT.

Interesting how you didn't address my points. Your original porst is straight bullchit and based on nothing besides ignoring the now. He wasn't dealt a bad hand. He has plenty of talent (to beat OU). Keep up the porsting. Keep digging in and refusing to see the NOW.

Strong aint getting fired. Texas is going to give him at least one more year.

wouldn't be too confident in that. the leash was short before the team played a single game.

There were plenty of "good ole boys" who didn't like the selection and probably didn't want any of it.

Also texas is serious about high school football football. Its a different recruiting style that gets the job done there.

Look like them "Good ole boys" were totally justified. Strong suks.

I think some of you are looking at Dana Holgorson's situation wrong.

That school used to be in a weak conference. They used to outclass their opponents except for the one big name matchup they have a year.

He shredded Kevin Steele's Clemson defense in a bowl game a couple of years back when WV had Geno Smith and some SF guys..

Now he sees the likes of Baylor, Ok St. Oklahoma, TCU every year and those might be his only losses.

Yes he needs a good DC but that's the case with all coaches, they usually bring expertise on only one side of the ball.

I think with our athletes and the right D coordinator, combined with his Offense, will be a ruthless combo.
