You are correct with rivers. When he kicked inside to guard you then had 5 guys who could run block. Right now the only have 3. But rivers being inside with cooper and carpenter allowed them to get that push inside

Why can't Rodriguez play center and McCoy play LG? We need an adjustment and we have the guys on the bench to do it. Heck, even Samson could play LG.

Our short yardage run game has definitely taken a step back from last year. I would even say our short yardage game was pretty solid the first 4 games this year, but has really regressed since the FSU game.

Or since #4 work load went down
Started feeding again and magically run game looked better

Not to bash the kid too much because as it’s been said..pass blocking seems to be his strength because I don’t see Beck getting constantly pressured from the interior which is a great thing ..but as Saban said once, “Some of these guys are in the portal for a reason”.

we used to play with those formations last season. it totally opens things up. They looked like a different team for most of the 3rd Q.

McCoy has been the LG he just isn’t that good

Well, most centers are getting pushed back when your offensive scheme rallies around running inside zone and defenses respond with putting a DT over the C and attack him vertically.

The O-Line is doing everything they can with an offensive run scheme that is absolutely terrible to play in. It's legitimately just "grind it out" football, there's no mixup. Players are expected to execute out of matchups that are overly **** for them.

Stanford defense was shifting into a goal line formation once they identified it was a run play, and they knew they didn’t have to protect the edges.
We are definitely too predictable in our run game and teams are seeing that on film.
Also, it’s even harder to run up the middle when your center is being pushed backwards, that needs to be addressed.

He has been losing at the point of attack too many times to count as the season has gone on. He was blown up by Louisville last week and run over by Stanford with ease until they ran out of gas. This on top of the many illegal procedure penalties that have been a killer this year.

A big disappointment and a big drop off at center for Mario.

FSU exposed this weakness in Miami by playing a bear front(NT head up on the C). Teams are just copying it. Penetration up the middle will kill most runs.
