I am an alumni and have been following the U since 1979, graduated 1987. For many here, football and Saturday afternoon in the Fall is all they care about. Unfortunately, starting with Thad Foote and now Shalala The U is more about academics and less about football. In the beginning Miami was known as Sun tan U, no longer. The moment we went into the ACC the playing field change in a positive way for the University and not for its football team: revenue sharing. Revenue sharing is simple win, lose, or draw the U gets a paycheck. No longer are we the beneficiaries 100% of what the football teams make. Also, we are the academically in the top 40. My friends this means one thing your core classes, SAT/ACT score and GPA have to be 20% above average in general or Billy Bob is not entering the U. Players in the past like Gore (learning disable) would not be able to play here. Taking all of this into account, we will be competitive but our chances of winning a national championship have been diminish. I see us being a true contender for the the championship 1-2 time every decade. Its a ***** but we must accept the facts.
