The truth about Miami football

Wow. That really was painful.

Takeaways?

Miami has finished ranked 3 times in the past 14 years and 2 of those were under a burnt out Mark Richt who got killed on this board.

Miami is basically Kansas State or Missouri.

It was fun while it lasted.

I don't think we are as consistent as Kansas State...just calling it like it is...

That's everything that's been spewed in the history of CIS and beyond, wrapped up into a nice 20 minute video.

fans here aren't getting it doesn't matter what scheme you run or whoever you hire to coach.it.until the whole program changes it won't matter because our players aren't mentally tough enough nor disciplined enough.until someone gets these players total attention and doesn't let them halfa$$ anything it stay the same.

We haven't reached the point of pre-1983 yet. Schnelly caught CFB by surprise in the early 80's and the momentum carried us for 20 years. That momentum is long gone and will take a monumental effort to get it back.

I disagree with that first sentence. Pre-1983 is better than what we have now. Those early 80’s pre-83 teams were building something and were either running with or beating the big boys.

The only difference is that today’s Canes can look back and say, “We used to be great! We won 5 titles!” They couldn’t say that pre-83.

But yeah, the obvious difference is that those early 80’s teams had a real coaching staff.

He said what we already know. Like the lover who wish will change but never does and only makes superficial adjustments to stay in the relationship, they (the U administration) are not going to change. And deep down we know they aren't we have had nearly 20 years of mediocrity and underachievement as solid proof but we hang on longing for a return to the early days of courtship.LOL

And of course strange things have added to the mediocrity. The referees are doing their part to make sure we don't get over the hump. And what is really wild is that the U recruits from a base that produces young people with extremely low football IQ. They simply cannot think football so over the years along w the horrible coaching we are victimized by some of the dumbest decisions by players on the field. And add to that practically everyone that is somebody that is recruited thinks they are better than they actually are, its incredible. And add to that most seem to bring a lack of discipline.

And there you have it a perfect storm that leaves us wasting our valuable time pulling for a program and teams that have little to no chance of success because of all the factors listed.

Program is dead and there’s no desire from this school to revive it. Would rather see it shut down than continue like this.

But wait a minute dude. There's always the " FCS " level of football competition. For instance, Miami could play the likes of Bethune-Cookman and FAMU, and Towson St. and The Citadel and Savannah St., for example, on an annual basis and what not. I'm just wondering which Johnny Rebel FCS conference they would join. hUh.

And he started 7-1 if kosi would have stayed off snapchat and jarren would have quit running to greyhound every week we would have been ranked again last year

crushed it right from the get go. Poor senior leadership starting with Donna and Paul.... Donna used program as cash cow to fund U health while major explosion was happening in terms of facilities, salaries, support staff etc.in college football
the other issue is we overlook is that Donna had 15+ years to get her team all thru out the school and this has impacted school as well as they do not "get" importance of athletic program to school.(Nike knew we were dead and headed nowhere
give Golden and Richt credit for improving facilities but we are light years behind other schools. present day poor leadership at Presidential level a BOT who has been consistently clueless and an AD dept that is a national joke.
i cannot believe that someone from ACC, has not said WTF, your program is an embarrassment to you and ACC.
CMD and staff will never overcome FIU debacle and i hope we do not play FAU or UCF they will crush Young Manny
whose staff borders on incompetent and arguably worst in D-1.
platers have been just as bad, with a crazy sense of entitlement for having done nothing and seem to radiate the attitude of go to the U play a little ball, party on S.Beach and on to the NFL. no desire, no heart, no character
change needs to come from top down. need new blood at BOT level. Hillary Bass is going to bring us a top rated program?? AD dept is awful period with a Lazy hire by James and his sidekicks(Carol Strawely) handling of the D.Mullen hire.
they all need to go...... good news , they have run out of excuses and everyone knows were the major issues lie.
Hire a superstar AD( think S.Jankovich) that has a background in football excellence and what it means to Universities in terms of success, exposure, and money.... take a look at Bama pre saban and post Saban for roadmap of what a school with a strong program means to school.
find a strong HC let him hire a top notch staff rather than his old beer drinking buddies....
hire as many analysts as financially possible and never stop investing in program.
this will not happen overnight but an also ran in the weakest division in D-1 football unbelievable!!!!!

People always saying there is no money.

For years, others said funds were siphoned off the football program for the university at large.

Which is it, really?

Proof or details?

I always thought the crying broke was a cover for snakes with ulterior motives.

If they really were/are doing this, why not realize the importance of the program and invest accordingly?

Is it just they have gotten used to getting easy checks with no effort and can’t be bothered to change?

Is there a larger issue of unaccounted for funds in the school?

do we have the money of a big state school no... however we can win and and be a consistent top 10 team
the money goes elsewhere, why did we spend all money in U health when Dade county already had Jackson memorial system.i do not think they actually know how to develop a program if they did why is James still around ?
their is a malaise in system with lazy hires and no one is being held accountable
example--- James awful, lazy hire with CMD...... Carol Strawely was in charge of committee to hire HC blew discussions with Mullen on contract
no idea were money goes

He hit it spot on about the leadership up top, I don’t think the administration cares about football

Yep.
That’s what decades long garbage coaching does.
We won 9 and 10 games consecutively under a burnt out Mark Richt with health issues, outdated offense, and unqualified son coaching quarterbacks.
He was the best head coach we hired even with all that.
We are NOT DEAD. We are one coach away like everybody else.
Only thing between us and a good football team is the administration.

I still say that's why Richt left, he saw it without rose colored glasses on. You think these players that lost to not one, but the three garbage teams he talked about could win a National Title with just a new coach? That coach better arrive with a powerful genie in a bottle if you think that.

People put way too much in high school rating services, they're for profit businesses and they help in evaluating talent. You still have to find and recruit the players that fit your program, are coachable and have the mental make-up and drive to win. Guys who make those around them better and don't put up with others who hurt or quit on the team.

Ask yourself, would you want to be in a fox hole with a majority of the guys given their effort in the three games he mentioned, or even in a huge bar fight where you had to depend on them? The guys you would consider are the Mofos needed to turn around what has become a perennial underperformer - and they get harder to find every recruiting cycle.

National title?

****, I just want a Coastal title and proceed from there.

The difference between a championship and .500 season IS NOT nearly as big as people think.

I don’t know who the players really are because the coaching leadership has been so flawed for so long.

The difference in team atmosphere between a self assured leader of men and a shook, perpetrating, try hard is like the difference between a full grown Sabre tooth tiger and a premature new born Siamese kitten.

It makes a WORLD of difference and people are always trying to undermine that fact with misguided talent arguments and blaming teenagers/ 20 year olds for being unfocused and having maturity issues.

Some players are hungry and self motivated no matter what. Some are lazy and half *** no matter what. The majority perform to the level that they are lead to.

Our talent isn’t that much better than mediocre teams. Nobodies talent is outside of the top five or so most elite teams. What we have are dangerous players with specific skills that can win most of their games IF they are used AND developed PROPERLY.

By and large, young men don’t show up disciplined and focused to perform a task. They NEED discipline and leadership from people with experience, competence, and confidence.

Most of the guys who performed valiant acts in real foxholes during combat did not show up to basic training as serious, focused, mature, disciplined enlistees. Many of them were ***** ups and ****birds. The Army has a SYSTEM that turns goofy recruits into disciplined warriors. If you are at least average (and sometimes below) they will turn you into a good soldier more likely than not.

I can’t accurately judge the players because the SYSTEM has they are subject to is a complete disaster. Thus, I cannot tell you if they are the type I would go to war with.

I can tell you that by changing leadership, guys who I would not go to war with became guys that I would go to war with and vice versa. That is how important leadership really is.

You know a Leach hire will be up for debate here, however, at least with Leach we know what we're getting based on a coaching record. And now that we have hind-site we can clearly see what TNM is and what 12 games have or have not produced. I'm very confident Leach would have made a better showing.

Leach has lost to FCS schools multiple times. Leach hasn't beaten UW since he's been at WSU, who happens to be there rival. UW literally has pointed out that he doesn't make adjustments. You guys would be calling for his head within year 2.

Richt was the best coach we could get because he was alumni. All these young up and comers do not want this job.
