The TE Position

Lofton deserves better

Schott deserves better.

If another team, had a Talent like Lofton or Schott, the QB and OC would ensure they get the ball and utilize them. Rhett had Will Mallory and made sure he got the rock. Cam made sure Arroyo got the ball.

Instead everything is about fycking blocking in order to get on the field
Mario and Beck both said Lofton ran the wrong route on that game-clinching interception. Anyone know what he did versus what he was supposed to do? Presumably because Louisville was showing pressure he needed to flatten the route?

Idk if that’s the case or not. Hot or not, he wasn’t open. I’d tend to go with its BS but again I don’t know the call. Besides that one play, Lofton was open plenty last night and Beck never looked his way. On one of his picks, he might have end d scored if he gets the ball. We scheme nothing for him all game and then the most crucial play of the game, you’re expecting him to read hot, I have a tough time blaming him

My understanding is he was supposed to go to where the ball was
I think so. Interestingly when they showed mugged looks we played directly into their hands like clockwork with adjustments. Felt like they were baiting certain audibles and jumping them

Thank you...he was running free plenty all night..
This is a Beck/Dawson issue...not a Lofton issue.
Gettin **** tired of the goal post moving in here...

Our passing game in general leaves a lot to be desired. Imagine if we didn’t have Toney making spectacular plays and carrying us, where would we be?

Obviously Daniels has made some plays, but what else are we really doing besides relying on a high school kid?

QB and play calling. Marion is one of the fastest in the country and the only thing Dawson can draw up for him is a screen

I'm not buying it.

It's just a convenient excuse for average performances.

Because trust & believe, the moment Lofton actually has a good game, there won't be a word uttered about how he's so injured & unhealthy.

If he's so hurt, sit him out until he's healed up. If not, stop using it as a crutch.

He plays in every game & averages around 30 snaps a game.
I would like to know one good thing to have him out there.
Is he an excellent blocker?

Our TE’s are not good, neither.
No way man - we've been told for two years that Elija Lofton is one of the best players in college football.

The numbers don't lie!

But Beck dumb *** still threw the ball

Maddening for sure! UL's defensive line tipped that pass to Lofton. However, Beck struggled with his progressions most of the night. There were multiple occasions where we had receivers not even covered, and the ball couldn't or wouldn't find them. Toney and Daniels have been phenomenal for sure, but you must look elsewhere when defenses roll coverage to them.

***** it, get Lofton & our Tulane transfer off the field. We don’t throw to them but once or twice a game. Let’s put two 300-pounders in their place & really play bully ball. lol

Him and Bauman were open all game and they would’ve combined for 200 if Beck didn’t think he had to throw just to Mali and CJ for the 2nd straight game.

The problem is Beck. Not their “lack” of talent at TE.

It’s becoming very easy to know who actually attends games around here.

That's a defensive tackle sprinting full speed in a straight line at Beck bc the guard is crawling on his hands and knees.

Also, thats Bell getting beat by a defensive end running right at Beck.

And...Lofton is not in a passing lane. Bells 7foot tall body is in the way.
And there is 5 DBs where he ends up throwing the ball. He had time to come off that read

Left side of OL doing some work.
