The TD that wasn't

The non-PI on Upshaw play before though is a pretty bad, and huge, no-call. Guy couldn’t use either arm. Not just one but BOTH. Never seen that not called when my guy’s hands never got to go up lol Not even one.
It’s amazing what fans see . I can go ask a ND fan and he’ll have 5-10 plays that they think kept us in the game. I know our OL got away with holds and ND’s did too. Also their db’s were mugging the wr’s. But I respect that , the refs won’t call it every play so make them call it. That’s why I just don’t waste my energy getting into the refs stuff. On top of that they was playing without half their defense. I prefer refs stay out of game especially late.

Happens on sideline all time after a foot down
There was a a difference between on the field and sideline and EZ.

As I said with my analogy if a RB jumping over the goal one, even if he gets the ball swatted out, the play is dead upon passing the goal line.

So a football move or would only be warranted if outside of the EZ.

Say a player is standing dead still in the EZ, catches it, doesn’t move, the the defender knocks it out. It’s a TD, no football move is necessary because the ball is dead the second he has control in the EZ. TD.

It is gray and applied inequitably. I will say that. But there is no need to make a football move. The act of catching in the EZ, ends the play, versus sideline or field of play.

Yeah all different scenarios especially the running into the end zone since they’re doing football act and broke the plane

Catches are different

But you see how one shouldn’t have to make a football move, in the EZ. We see it all the time where a guy is standing there catches it and the DB knocks it out? Generally called a TD without the WR moving a foot.

The rule is contradictory in the EZ.

It was obviously a TD… but a lesson for Mario to finally learn… you have to coach these games aggressively and seize the opportunities when they are there.

Go for it on 4th and goal at the 1.

Go for it on 4th and 3 near midfield.

Minimize the chances of getting screwed over by the refs… especially in South Bend Over.

Everybody is missing the play before that, as I did in real time, and was wondering why Mario was going nuts on the sideline. The receiver could even get a single arm up to make an attempt at the ball.

The TD should have been poetic justice for that, but when they called it incomplete on the field, there was no chance for that to go our way…regardless of your perspective on the rule.

Im on the other side of that opinion. #7 needs to fight harder to work back to the ball in order to get the call at that stage of the game. His arm got locked up and he quit on the attempt. He needs to fight harder and act more demonstratively. #7 was far too timid in this game.

Agreed i usually never partake in blaming refs..im just confused on the lofton td. Then mario says they got no explanation for it afterwards, just odd

It was a TD but to be a buck, we’ve had a good streak of luck on questionable late game calls. Going back a few years. I agree with all of them but you can’t catch that many breaks. I’m fine paying the karma tax here. The team that played better won , even if the gam was there to be stolen.
