The talk about Tate's weak arm is BS

Link: Tate's arm strength video

I, like MOST other TRUE cane fans, just want the best QB to start for the Canes.

There's a lot to recommend Jarren, and alot to recommend Kosi.

But the constant knock against Tate's arm strength had me worried about him. Unless he hurt his arm after the above highlights were filmed, the detractors of Tate and his arm strength are full of crap.

Glad I found this... especially IF Tate is the named starter.

Now, I have full confidence in each of the three combatants/contestants.

Its not so much that his arm is weak. He’s short and indecisive.

Unpopular take but honestly the season would have played out much different if richt didn’t bench malik to begin with in that fiu game. He literally lost all confidence and while he was not a good-great qb he certainly was better than how he played in 2018 imo
You do know he started the BC game after that right? He was 19/36 150yds & 2INT's at 52.8%cmp.

He also started vs Wisky & was 41.7% passer & threw 3INT's.

He started vs LSU & was a 42.9% passer vs LSU. Leaving him in vs FIU wouldn't have done anything on the season, he was horrendous & he wasn't going to improve.

He wasn't that good in 2017 either, he was a 54% passer & threw 14INT's, he benefitted from having big playmakers around him & a Defense that lead the nation in turnovers.

Richt's problem was he should've hired an OC/QB coach from the start instead of entrusting his son with arguably the most important position coach spot on the team, plus pushed out Kaaya too early because he couldn't get him comfortable enough in the offense. Kaaya should've came back his Senior year.

And Richt fcked up betting the house on Rosier for the 2018 season, he should've started Perry or Williams from the jump but neither one of them were being developed because his son Lil Jon is a complete fckin goober & had no business being a coach on this staff.

Yeah but here’s my rationale on that, rosier before that benching just came off his best game probably at Miami having 5 tds including completing several big time throws on 3rd down in that game to extend drives when it was like a 1 score game in the 3rd or so. There’s no way for sure to say what his stats would have been if not for the benching in the fiu game good or bad. But Imo he wouldn’t have been like what we saw last year.

I understand. He may well be a very talented guy behind the camera. I don’t know him. I’m just talking about the actual video, and holding somebody’s interest. I’m not personally attacking him, I have no idea who he is.

I mean I’m 30 seconds in and he is still introducing and talking about what he’s going to to be talking about. I guess over the last 20+ years, I’ve gotten so used to business writing and business presentations that I want the headline quickly -boom boom boom - and I want you to get to the point fast. I’m an ******* like that
I’m not even sure he’s a great camera guy/videographer. I’m just saying I think some guys are better served staying behind the camera.

Vs TOLEDO lol! And he was still only a 56% passer in that game.

He always played well vs Tol, in 2017 he threw for 333yds 3TD's passing & 1TD rushing vs them & completed 75% of his passes.

Toledo is a weak G5 school with no defense, of course he looked good vs them, vs P5 teams he was awful. Malik at his very best was a 54% passer, in 2017 he only completed 60% of passes in his just 3 games the entire season.

Him playing the entire game vs FIU wouldn't have changed sh*t about the season, did yall not watch the UVA game, he played from the 2nd quarter til the end of the game & was terrible. He peaked & was incapable of playing any better, it was a wrap when he was named the starter vs LSU.

The season was flushed down the toilet because Richt had a fake competition & didn't get the young guys ready, he bet the house on the 5th year Senior & it burned him.

Enos brought in Martel for his toughness and being able to move about fluidly...
I’m guessing Tate.

Saw just today that Fields has NOT won the OSU QB competition. Apparently, Kentucky Grad Transfer Gunnar Hoak is still in the mix.

Motivation tactic only to push Fields to focus and get better. It's his job clear and away.

Perry made it a fake competition by getting suspended for the opener. That isn't Richt's fault. I can't remember many QBs getting suspended before they ever take a snap amounting to much of anything. ****, how many QBs get suspended? Richt's outdated offense, his lack of adjustments, hiring his son. They are all up for critique. Perry taking himself out of the competition is on Perry. No coach in his right mind is gonna hand his team over to a QB he can't trust. Perry's 2018 season wasn't exactly one that made you think he would've won the job anyway.

I totally forgot about this, you are right...

Perry wasn't the only QB on the team & none of my post had anything to do with Perry.

Jarren Williams wasn't developed either & he never had shot in the QB competition at all last year with Richt. He rarely ever even took first team reps & wash never prepared to even get a chance to start.

My comment wasn't defending or absolving Perry for last year, it was the point that Richt poorly mismanaged the QB situation last year by betting the house on Rosier. What was his fault is that he didn't have a contingency plan in place in case Rosier sh*t the bed, which is exactly what happened.

We were Richt'd in every way. This is/was on him, anyway you slice it

I stay away from ripping Rosier, he was placed in a position he never should've been put in - going back to Richt not exactly embracing Kaaya returning his senior year.

as @theFranchise has pointed out, Richt the QB guru was nothing more than a worn out reputation, post-Stafford at UGA, it was a steep downturn when it came to his evaluations and development from about 2008 on. From recruiting, to coaching....to everything

I may be biased, but when Richt benched Kosi I told my wife, “so the season is over. He’s lost the team and the fans. It’s done.”

When I saw the way Richt was calling LSU, I knew it was over.

He never made an effort to get his quarterback comfortable and rolling before trying to take shots down the field.

That is how scrub qbs looked like Tom Brady before the striker and why Malik was so serviceable against Duke his first game, but terrible for Richt.

Richt was like many posters here that hate the dink and dunk and want to air it out downfield. Problem was, we didn’t have anyone who could play like that 2018. We lost many winnable games refusing to adjust to what we had, as opposed to what we wanted.

Malik would have been far and away the best option if we really accepted who he was in the off-season and planned appropriately.

When I saw how he was falling apart to LSU, I wanted him benched. Not because I thought Perry or Weldon were ready, but because you could tell Malik’s confidence was ruined, and it was NOT coming back.

Watching his high school tape and his first start in the Duke miracle game, it was apparent what his strengths were and how he should be used.

Richt square pegged him and the rest was history. It didn’t have to end so badly, but it did.

at this stage, every QB was a square peg in a Richt hole

His system became so antiquated and was among the most QB un-friendly systems I can recall. Short of having Gurley at RB, AJ Green outside and a Stafford behind center, with an NFL Oline, his defunct system wasn't going to be consistently successful

Stating the truth is not ripping, it was absolutely on Richt 100% but that doesn't mean Rosier wasn't still bad.

Richt lost the season in the 2018 offseason.

Offense and specials were COMPLETELY neglected and unprepared.

Except for Kaaya’s hot streak to end 2016 when Richt figured out he had to get the ball out of his hand quickly, every quarterback who took a snap for Richt at Miami played the worst football of their life.

Tells you everything you need to know about the true cause of our offensive problems.
