The Sh*t is about to hit the fan for the NCAA

I can tell u that I’ve personally witnessed ICE take down workers from across my job, PRIOR to Trump being in office.

I can tell you, outside of SF and it’s surrounding areas, most Californians don’t believe in Socialism.

The Debt is true, which is y the housing market and gas tax is crazy right now trying to recover some of that.

U have to remember that CA is filled w ppl from all over the world & country. So yes, there are many who are Rainbow children, but there are many who are staunch conservatives as well.
I dont disagree with you. Of course there are alot of great people there. Im not talking crap about people in cali. Im talking about how poorly cali is governed and the good people that are in cali have zero shot at changing that state.

True that; haven’t had a good Governor in a min here...like fa real fa real.

Once upon a time we were so financially healthy, it was reports that Cali could’ve broke off from The Union and be fine.

Imo, the first mistake was electing an actor, steroid abuser, and non-US natural born citizen to be the Governor. It’s been downhill ever since.

As OCCC said in his post, you need to earn in the $160k's and above to have a decent quality of life on average. It is doable though for those with a double income. I have friends that are a married couple and both are Registered Nurses. They each make around $95k-$105k a year. They cap out at ~$200k a year for their household. They own a 3,800sqft home in wine country up in Temecula, California for around $510K. They both commute to San Diego for work so, their vehicle gas bill is high, but they have enough money to own property, go on vacations, and invest into retirement. Folks making $60k/year and single mostly live with roommates (Plural) and need to budget.

Nothing wrong with Temecula, but how much do you think their same house would cost in SD where they work? Let’s just say they didn’t each want to spend two hours commuting every day.

True, that same property would easily be over $1mil...Depending on area in San Diego, I would put that same property in the $1.1m-$1.5mil category.

Theoretically good wages get canceled out by taxes and cost of living... so what you got left. Maybe peace of mind, happiness, weather and beauty... and priorities.
Do you love living in SD... or wherever. I don't love living in Miami, this town has changed too much... but there's a lot of places in the Sunshine State that are great, affordable and nice. To me the ocean/Gulf is important. But I'm retired and affordability is a big priority... will be looking to move soon.
The Cons you stated are deal breakers for me. I don't wake up early anymore so college gameday 12 noon is just fine, lol
Yeah, you are right. I am in San Diego because I retired from the military here, and my mother-in-law and step son live here. Once Jr. graduates HS in a couple of years, we will likely look to move elsewhere. San Diego has beautiful locations to visit and the weather is great most of the year, but the taxes and cost of living can be a killer. I never thought I would earn in the 6 figure range and still have to budget in certain areas.

First let me thank you for your service.
My wife of 12 yrs. has been all over Cali and loved it years ago but we both retired for 3 yrs. and moving there is completely out of the question. FL to me is the best state to live cause of saltwater and ok cost of living. But GA for instance is real nice and they don't tax SS checks and provides a deduction of $65,000 per person on all types of retirement income for anyone 65 or older (I'm 64). Also GA real estate is cheap so is car and homeowners insurance. TX is probably the best all around state but the wife says no way.

Been to Temecula. Underrated spot.
