He definitely did good work at Ole Miss. I know the "SEC!" crowd will disagree, but last year's end result is a little misleading. Only ranked wins in the regular season were vs LSU at home & Oklahoma. Beat Tulane & a banged up/overrated UGA in the CFP to make the semis, & I truly feel we should have won that game by at least 2TDs.He took over an Ole Miss team that has never won anything besides an upset or 2 against Alabama in the cheating days. He produced top quarterbacks and offenses every single year. They got better every single year. He got them to the ******* CFP semi final. I guarentee you that won't happen again for a long long time.
I would guess Ole Miss goes 8-4 at best this year. There will be an immediate dropoff.
He has an innate ability to take a certain group of players and squeeze the very very best out of them. He will be an elite coach with LSU's brand. He seems stubborn to your casual fan, but he is a completely different coach than when he was at USC.
I think being humbled with the FAU job made him turn the corner as a head coach.
He'll win some games at LSU, but I'd take Mario over Lane 100 out of 100 times.
