I didn't say he is a pastor. Terrible moral compass, and probably a very ****** person. But as a football coach he is not "solid" he is elite. What he did at Ole Miss was incredible, they were ready to build statues of him less than 10 months ago:ROFLMAO:

"Elite" is a stretch. He hasn't won anything as a head coach. And how good would last season have really looked if we don't drop all those INTs in the semi-final and win that game convincingly like we should have? They had a nice run. Nothing more.

He took over an Ole Miss team that has never won anything besides an upset or 2 against Alabama in the cheating days. He produced top quarterbacks and offenses every single year. They got better every single year. He got them to the ******* CFP semi final. I guarentee you that won't happen again for a long long time.

I would guess Ole Miss goes 8-4 at best this year. There will be an immediate dropoff.

He has an innate ability to take a certain group of players and squeeze the very very best out of them. He will be an elite coach with LSU's brand. He seems stubborn to your casual fan, but he is a completely different coach than when he was at USC.

I think being humbled with the FAU job made him turn the corner as a head coach.

LSU was in 7 of the top 100 viewed games in college football in 2025 (including the playoffs) in a disappointing season where they went 3-5 in the SEC and 7-6 overall. LSU was still well within the top 10 programs in viewership for 2025.

I sincerely doubt this is anything other than the SEC playing to the mob, and I would be surprised if anyone at LSU was even the slightest bit concerned by this political charade.

Dream scenario for ESPN*

ACC’s media rights deal is locked in for basically another decade. ESPN would get to keep LSU’s market and brand while paying them like an ACC school.

Agree. I can see a post season ban max, but it wont get that far. Theyll fall in line.

I was listening to a Joel Klatt podcast (I know he can be a hater but I like the guy). He said it perfectly. He coached under Saban and Pete. I think he is trying to create a team with a little combination of the 2. Toughness, discipline, hard work, like Saban. Gameday theatrics, flash, and swagger like Pete. Celebrities at games, movie scenes every saturday. Hes making LSU talked about and cool again to the nation.

He will be gone to the NFL or to Bama or to wherever in 5 years, I expect him to win a ring. I love Mario and would have it no other way, but the Lane train in Miami would have been a fun time lmao

He has the Pete feel much than Saban to me. Saban had a dynasty that thrived consistency , talent, and discipline. Lane to me is building something that thrives on talent, individualism, and bad boy image.

Could be similar to our teams in the 80’s and 90’s the way those teams were/are viewed. I do not think he’ll have that level success but LSU will have high viewership. Lane has a short expiration period at LSU as well in my opinion (say 3-5 years). He will just as soon burn it down than have any prolonged success but it’s going to be fun to watch.
