The reason why this program will always have title potential

I keep saying it. UM is the same sleeping giant that USC was before they lucked into hiring Carroll. UM has been considered dead before by bozo pundits.

With a competent HC UM will rise again like a Phoenix. This is exactly why the real hardcore UM fans are so on edge. We know what this program can do with the right HC leading us.

I was about to post pretty much the same thing. USCw was a dead program for about 20 years. They had to endure Clowns like,Paul Hackett and Robinson aka Robofat. I remember Robofat reeling in top 5 class after top,5 class and not having a clue how to use that talent. Its practically the same thing here. USC is located on a hotbed of talent so they have no excuse not to have the players. Even when they did scock up that roster it didn't matter because Robo didnt know how to use them.

After tbe incompetent trio of Coker Shannon and Golden we find ourselves in the same position as USC pre Carroll. Now we need our own version of Pete Carroll to,lead us. As terrible as Golden is he has done a,couple of things right. Chief among the those is stocking the team with talent. Unfortunately Golden could be four deep with 5 stars at every position and still be mediocre and a bore to watch on Saturdays. The next coach will be walking into a very good situation. Hopefully that is sooner than later.

LOL at D$ waiting until the end of the season. Jesus Christ. What more do you need to see? Are you a glutton for punishment?

What, specifically, can you point to that makes you think Golden has ANY chance of turning it around this season?

D$ is too bright not to know Folden sucks. He's "holding off" until the end of the season for some other reason.

To add on D$'s comment:

Matt Fortuna of ESPN on which team is closer to a return to the top of college football:

The idea that Miami has not played in a single ACC championship game yet is perplexing. Instead, the men's basketball team is the one that can claim a league title. Go figure.

Looking down the road, though, I think the Hurricanes have the more direct path back to their glory days, or at least at getting closer to what they once were. For one: Location, location, location. There is simply too much talent in Miami for this program ever to fall on down times. Golden, in his fourth year, has taken advantage of this, on pace for his fourth straight top-15 recruiting class. Let's not forget that this was also a program that was operating under the black cloud of the Nevin Shapiro scandal for two-plus years.

The same argument that the Big Ten provides a clearer path for Nebraska can be used for the ACC and Miami; the Coastal Division is a mess. But the most promising aspect for the Canes may be just that: promise.

Yes, fans want more out of this regime, which has lacked some punch at times. But there is still time to clean things up and for Miami -- which, we should note, has had some pretty awful luck with injuries offensively -- to improve. What Pelini has done in Lincoln is no small task, and I do think he is taken for granted, but I wonder if he has maxed out there. That may be tough to accept for a fan base that is so used to dominance, but as you said, that era appears gone.

What isn't gone is the talent in Florida, and in the Southeast. By virtue of its location, and by surviving a potentially program-crumbling scandal, Miami at least has the upside to make a return to the top of the college football world a possibility in the not-so-distant future.

Where's AntwanJ to tell us how all these kids are too dumb? How can they all make it to the NFL while being so dumb?

A real coach would this program competing within a minimum of two years. Contrary to popular belief, it is possible to see improvement in players who may not be quite Miami standards over 2-3 years and it is possible to recruit really, really well here.

We said the same thing about Butch in year 4. Not saying AG will duplicate that success, but there is precedent.
