hen Denzel Perryman steps on the football field, he doesn't hold much back.
He plays with fire and emotion, rallying teammates when things get tough and celebrating their successes as much as he enjoys his own. The bone-crushing hits he often lays on opponents elicit equal parts cheers and groans from those who know just how powerful those blows can be.

But when he walks into the locker room Saturday evening after having played his final game as a Hurricane when Miami takes on South Carolina in the Duck Commander Independence Bowl, Perryman hopes that for once, he's able to keep his emotions in check.
"When I walk on the field and play that first play of the series, it'll probably hit me. Or in the fourth quarter when the clock says 0:00 and coach [Al] Golden asks in the locker room if the seniors have anything to say," Perryman says of the realization his Miami career is almost over. "It'll probably hit me then. Hopefully I don't cry."
It'd be hard to fault the 6-foot, 242-pound linebacker if he does get caught up in the moment a little bit.
