The Ole Miss Thread

This Ole Miss Passing Attack is going to be easily the best we have gone against all season.

Hopefully we get Damari back if OJ is gunna be out. Tough spot for a Freshman in Antione to get most pt all season.

I preferred getting matched up with Ole Miss vs Texas AM in the 1st round. It’s the semi finals no time to fear anyone.

Maybe means something maybe means nothing. But Ole Miss dumping Gatorade on the coach vs Mario dry as a bone after. That was their Super Bowl. Our team is focused on another level.

I think there is a decent chance this game could get ugly in our favor.

I thought Georgia was a better matchup but possess the ball and get to the qb and we'll be alright.

In addition anything to make of the fact that Kiffin was there when they already had to scout and gameplan for both Tulane and UGA.

We are a brand new opponent with no previous prep work or gameplan for. Weiss Jr is now supposed to be responsible for gameplan for us on top of all of his LSU responsibilities. Could get interesting.

Here is my analytical look at Ole Miss compared to the two L’s we took in the regular season. Both teams that like to run tempo to neutralize Miami’s pass rush. Ole Miss offense is better than that of SMU/Louisville, they’ve got the better QB and better RB. I think Chris Bell at UL is a better receiver than anything Ole Miss has. But Louisville and SMU did just enough on offense to go along with two key things on defense, 1. Stop the run and 2. Create turnovers. Our offense was in the mud during that time of the year, they stopped the run and got after Beck a little on obvious passing downs. I couldn’t find opponents QB pressure stats but sack % SMU is 38th, UL is 43rd and Ole Miss is 64th. So those defenses can affect the QB better as well. And the turnover difference is the biggest part of it. SMU obviously elite at creating turnovers, 5th in the country, while UL is top 20% in the country at 28. Ole Miss is way down there at 96th in takeaways per game. So if Ole Miss can’t stop the run, and they can’t cause turnovers, I like Miami to stay on schedule on offense and do enough on defense to come out with a victory.

Stats I’m watching:

Yards Per Rush - Defense
- UM opponents yard per rush #3 in nation
- Ole Miss opponents yard per rush #77 in nation (TAMU was #80)

TOP %
- UM #5 55.91% of TOP
- Ole Miss #92 48.76% of TOP

- Run the ball efficiently with long drives
- Limit the big play and cause FGs not TDs
- Make that defense exhausted by Q4 and run us to The Rock

The most similar defense to ours was LSU and OU.

They struggled on offense vs LSU but handled OU's Defense easily.

Theyre a hot and cold team, really no telling which one we'll get

Ohio State only had four second half possessions Wednesday night, the last one with just :55 seconds left.

That’s exactly what we have to and will do to Ole Miss.

They can’t stop the run. We’re gonna bludgeon them on the ground and win this game by double digits.
