The Ole Miss Thread

This X 100.

The running game needs to be gaining at least yards a lot.

But even that I don’t think is enough.
It’s difficult to just 4 to 6 yards your way down the field over and over again against any defense.

The passing game needs to create explosives. Not necessarily bombs down the field.

But more like the over the middle passes to Daniels and Toney against FSU. 8 to 11 yard passes into space, so those guys could add another 25 to 35 yards in YAC.

Running a service academy offense against Ole Miss sounds good in theory. But it’s very difficult in execution. And if we don’t execute it to perfection, it’s putting a lot of pressure on our defense against maybe the best offense in CFB.
I hope to see more play action

I don’t have stats to back it up but feel like it’s something we don’t do often enough given our OL talent

They seem focused on everything but Miami TBH.
Sure, but we should just assume it will bring the players closer together IMO. It's possible it tears them apart, but I wouldn't count on it. Tbh, they are better off on offense if Chambliss is drawing up plays on his hand in the huddle than if Joe Judge is calling them

I just know he’s over 70% with no interceptions through two games in the playoffs. That’s pretty good. I’d expect his numbers earlier in the year to be worse given that this is his first year playing big time football.

Beck would have been 80-90% vs Tulane. UGA doesn't exactly strike fear in the hearts of QBs, and he still was running for his life a few times.

Do they run a 3-3-5? I watched the game, and they didn't have four dl most of the game. They have some BIG humans: 51,52, and 5, but the other guys in the box are small. This game should be similar to FSU, with Ole Miss having better talent.

lol at Joe Judge. Its Almost the equivalent to Matt Patrizia at Taint

How is Ole Miss pass rush? Do they use complex schemes to get after QBs?
They’re light in the pants up front. They do a ton of slanting and moving around pre snap because they get bullied if they line up heads up. With all the guessing they do, it leads to lots of big plays in both directions. Think of our defensive lines under Manny. Lots of risk/reward. Our tight splits will likely negate any advantage they get by slanting their line.

The staff situation “not being sustainable” is a funny quote to me. I mean Golding has no power here. What’s he gonna do, tell them to get out and have no offensive staff left? IMO his mindset had to be you burn the program down for a shot to lift the trophy. Who cares if you’re struggling to field a roster next year? You weren’t gonna be a playoff team again anyway.

I said it before- if Ole Miss, without a HC, most of its staff and players with one foot out the door, and having emptied their gas tank against UGA, beats Miami with the home game national championship on the line, I will tip my cap to them and be disgusted at the staff for blowing a game against opponent where we have the biggest trenches disparity between any 2 P4 teams in the playoffs. Miami hasn’t had issues with running QBs all season. No excuse for it happening now besides looking past them and not taking the game seriously.
