The Ole Miss Thread

Limiting Ole Miss's explosive plays will be key for the defense. Since Chambliss took over they have 63 20+ yard plays against FBS teams, nearly 6 per game. They do an elite job getting TDs on drives with explosives averaging 5.5 pts/drive, getting a TD 67% of the time. They have scored a ton of 20+ yard TDs this year.

Our defense has given up 41 20+ yard plays in 13 FBS games (3.2/g) and just 15 in our last 6 (2.5/g). What's been so extraordinary over our last 6 games is on drives we give up an explosive we are only giving up 2.4 net pts/drive.

With our injuries at outside corner and their depth at WR we should expect to give up some explosive plays to them. Just need to not them score directly off them, then hold them to FGA/punt or force a turnover or intercept the ball and run 70 yards for a TD (thank Keionte).

The obvious strategy on offense would be for us to pound the rock, slow the game down, and turn this into a good ole’ fashioned slug fest which would also serve the dual purpose of keeping Ole Miss’ offense off the field. On the other side of the ball, you gotta believe that the Rebels are going to wanna run tempo. Honestly, if you’re going against our D you HAVE to do that to hope for any sort of success…especially if Bain/Mesidor are taking a breather. The thing about Chambliss compared to Reed is that Chambliss is a much better passer so we need to be cognizant of that.

Next step:

Do not read your own press after successes, just dominate
Go back to Greentree and get better ever day
Injuries? Next man up
Let’s Go ‘CANES

Has anyone heard about Kiffin being difficult regarding how many of his coaches he wants to continue to coach thru the CFP.? Read on ESPN he’s still pi**y about it. Then again maybe that’s just Kiffin being Kiffin.

they have a few players, but still seem to be lacking dudes. they've got a tricky offensive scheme
I think Chambliss is like a Russel Wilson type of qb. He’s no slouch. We got to be ready. We’ve played some great qbs this year but imo he may be the hardest one to defend especially with how sometimes our dline struggles finishing sacks(yes I know Even though we are leading the country with 46 of them)

Yup. But all week they are scared AF about our DL and will gameplan 50 different ways to get the ball out quickly like everyone else we've played. This makes them far more predictable

Can’t give them too much cushion for easy passes. The defense we played in the 4th quarter of fsu,3rd quarter of Ohio state should be thrown out the book for this game plan. Can’t give these guys too much space especially with their tempo. I will say yes ole miss has weapons and have the best rb out of the playoffs teams we played but their top 2 receivers would still be ranked behind each of A&M and Ohio state so we have faced better and more explosive receivers in that regard. Just pray we get at least one of our corners back for this game

the only time teams have driven the ball on us is when we play soft prevent defense. As has been stated above, time for the offense to take charge of a game.

This had no idea why we went to that at the end of the 2nd quarter and in the 3rd quarter vs Ohio state. It’s like we intentionally made it harder on our selves

This Ole Miss Passing Attack is going to be easily the best we have gone against all season.

Hopefully we get Damari back if OJ is gunna be out. Tough spot for a Freshman in Antione to get most pt all season.

This staff needs to get Charles Brantley ready to play for this game.

He can definitely be streaky with his accuracy.

Heatherman needs to study the tape and see what these defenses did to keep him below 60% accuracy.
He is just one of those players. If we get his base form, we should handle them. The issues are he isn’t consistent, we may just as well get a bad version of him and blow them out or we may get the video game player we say the other night.

The type of offense ANY DC would HATE.. first play the line of scrimmage is dam near the 30 yard line and he runs back to the goal line and turns plays to back yard football.. Then they will tempo after, which gasses out a defense..
