The official south Florida sellout post

You know what's so ironic regarding both Treon an Gibson....we kept it 100 w/ them. We let them know we wanted them here, but not as QBs. We let them know it would be better, long term, playing different positions.

Florida and OSU, respectively, lie BLATANTLY to these kids and when they don't pan out or are not developing under said position, they get shown the door for any reason.

Harris and Gibson will never see the field on Sundays; those two schools murdered their careers. Yet, the South Florida handlers still kisses up to them. Had we did the same thing, we would be black balled. I don't get the hate for the home squad and the love for the enemy. It's like self hate or something.

If the kids insisted on being QBs than they ruined their own career. Why didnt they just switch positions after instead of transferring out when QB didn't work out?

You're absolutely correct....but that wasn't my point. My point was we kept it real w/ them and the other schools didn't. Yet if we did the same thing we would be black balled while the other schools still get mad love.

We don't know if Reynolds spurned us. He might not have been recruited. During the 1950's, Andy Gustafson preferred northern kids especially sons of steelworkers and coal miners. He recruited Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland and West Virginia heavily. Also, Assistant Coach Walt Kichefski would recruit Wisconsin heavily. (Ski was a native of Wisconsin). We can't list Reynolds unless he had a scholarship offer and turned us down. The same would be true of Miami native Lee Corso.

College HOF member Arnold Tucker is listed in the Hall of Fame as representing both UM and Army. He started at UM and transferred to Army but that might have had to do with military service and WW II.
