Last year the average college football game lasted 3 hours and 22 mins. I don't know what the average was for week one, but I do know that Utah UF game was over 3.5 hours. Less plays does not equal less game time. Networks will still get all their commercials in...and then some
 
Why can't the college game use NFL rules when it comes to commercials? I watch an NFL game that starts at 1:00, and it usually ends at 4 unless it goes into overtime.

CFB games can take up up to 4 hours in regulation, god help you if there is OT!

Average NFL game is 3 hours and 12 mins. They don't review as many plays, halftime is shorter and less TV timeouts (in length).
