Manning- Passing 3163 yards 26 td 7 int 100 less attempts that Mensah
Rushing 399 yards 10 td


Mensah- Passing 3973 yards 34 td 6 int
Rushing -32 yards 1 td

With the supporting cast Manning had compared to Mensah, I am not very impressed.............

Seems fair considering his Ducks were outscored 69-15 in the first half of their last two CFP losses.

If Mario had lost to Washington in 2023 the way Lanning did (failing 3 times on 4th down including twice inside the ten yard line in a game they lost by 3) people would never shut the **** up about it. I don’t get the Lanning love at all.

I mean, sure, **** Arch and **** Texas. I understand the hatin-***-hater behavior. But, IF qb x has 30tds, 5 picks, 500 yards rushing, adds 10tds on the ground, and his team is 11-1 ranked in the top 5 - it wouldn't matter if he changed his name to Bigdikdaddy during week 8 - he'd be in New York on the first Saturday in December.

That said, I don't necessarily think Arch has that type of year - then again, I know ****all about evaluating qb play. Gun to my head, though, I'd guess he ends up developing into something closer to his granddaddy/uncles then, say, Anthony Richardson.

And, just to keep it on topic, even if Arch is mediocre this year, Texas is still loaded.

SEC teams are always inflated in the early rankings so they can justify their existence with "good losses" later.

Texas, well, there is enough talent on the roster to make a run, but how far depend on whether Arch is Michael or Fredo.

Full disclosure. I thought Archie Manning was not a good QB. As a matter of fact, you could make an argument that he sucked as a pro. I think Peyton is a goober who plays the nice guy but in reality was only a rub and tug away from being sued by staffers at Tennessee. If it wasn’t for the cache his last name brought, I’m not sure the outcome is the same. Eli beat the Pats twice, so he gets a pass, sort of. I’ve watched Arch for several years now and I just don’t see it. I see a kid from a famous family who’s getting a load of NIL and because of that financial commitment, is playing. I won’t dispute that he did improve a good deal the second half of the season, but… Will it continue to improve or will his play regress to the mean?

I’m not disputing anything you wrote. Nothing. I just am so sick of the Mannings. Oh and fucc Texas.

Talent. Cam Coleman, Ryan Wingo, Collin Simmons, Rasheem Biles, Trevor Goosby, Arch (if the last 6 games of the season weren't a mirage [152 passer rating, 14td-2int, 5 more tds rushing, team went 5-1] he's a Heisman finalist top 5 pick, famous last name or not).

Even drunk-Sark would have a tough time underperforming with 5 or 6 first rounders doing the legwork.

Can easily see them losing 3-4 games if Arch is still up and down

I just think, at some point, talent ends the entire discussion. It’s the reason I pounded the desk for Mario for 5+ years before he even got the job here. I’m not gonna cap for Lanning, but Oregon is gonna be really, really good this year, imo. And it’s because they’ve got arguably the best roster in the sport. Losing both coordinators is tough. And maybe he is a corch. But this board told me, over and over and over, that Mario was a corch. Until he got a supremely talented football team….and he wasn’t.

Lanning is also 40 years old.

Agreed with your overall point. My main issue is Lanning was born on third base and still can’t cross home yet people talk about him like he completely built up that Oregon program. Just doesn’t make sense to me.

I’m not saying he’s a bad coach, I just don’t think there’s any validity to people having him as better than Mario. That’s all.

I don’t think anyone has ever suggested Arch is horrible unless they were just being weird

He’s pretty good. He’s no Mensah though in my useless opinion.

They beat an Oklahoma team who didn’t belong, and a Texas A&M team who already secured a CFP spot. If you want to brag about beating Vandy by 3 on your home turf, go ahead. The two big bad SEC programs they did beat got bounced out of the first round of the CFP relatively easy. I mean TEMU didn’t score a TD.

So someone other than ESECPN, tell me why we have to put Texas on everyone’s hype list? If Arch’s last name was Jones they’d be ranked #23 in the Coaches Poll. The media wants this particular SEC darling to succeed so bad it’s so obvious. The only surprise is they didn’t put them at #1 in this year’s preseason polls like last year.
