The most important aspect of the Mario Era…

Yeah, we were very fortunate to end up on the right side of the fence at the right time at a moment where a gambling man would have gone all in on us getting screwed. Mario has his proof of concept to sell to recruits now with back to back 10 win seasons, a playoff berth, multiple first round draft picks(very likely) and any talk about being a QB killer in the modern CFB era completely DOA. Most importantly the boosters were shown that their large and unprecedented investments made sense.

Let’s win the whole ******* thing. No team is unbeatable. Why not us

I know everyone including myself rags on Kirk "Herbie doesn't like to make toys" Herbstreit a lot, but the guy called out the university for its unwillingness to invest in the football program. Whether anyone likes it or not or wants to admit to it, but when The U is on, the buzz in college football is much louder. How loud is that buzz about Texas Tech? Ohio State? Ole Miss? No one outside of those states really cares, but The U? Oh they care in NY, they care in California, they care in South Dakota, etc. So yeah D$ you are 1000% right my man.
Vilma was behind that, so thank him too.

Without that Herbstreit call out I'm not certain if our spending ramps up as quickly as it did between 2021 and 2022.

He should have his own statue:

…is the timing. The sport is changing at an unprecedented rate. In 2021, we had a depleted roster (one 7th round pick in draft), a complacent athletic department, an obsolete brand, and one of the worst recruiting classes in America. We were about to be left even further in the dust.

When that orange-and-green logo flashed across the screen on Sunday, it represented more than a playoff berth. We are front and center for the new era of college football.
i don't think people understand the traits that are required to coach miami ... not only do you have to do well on the field, but you also have to have the cache and respect to control the streets ... mc is the right man, at the right time for the job

Give the statue to Vilma. He’s the one who gave the info to Herbie and got him to do it, he was an Academic All-American, and we all know his athletic achievements here.

College coaching today is a very exhausting endeavor, between recruiting, portal, NIL and baby sitting with defections etc. Mario is a 24/7 coach that Miami needed to begin its resurgence to the top.

I know Pete caught some flak for his “establish relevance” motto, but as a Canes fan turning 30 today, he was spot on. This moment is the peak of my Canes fandom. 2017 and these last two seasons are the best moments that I'm able to remember and it still feels so surreal that the Canes are finally relevant again on the national stage and that I get to witness it.

Happy Birthday
