The money has gotten obscene in college athletics

Yup... Many issues. How about a cost of living adjustment based on where your school is located? The cost of living in Miami is far more than in Tuscaloosa meaning that money will go farther in most, if not all other places so Miami student athletes need more money in stipend than kids at other schools in order to have a level playing field.
On the other hand I can easily play the devil's advocate as well with this issue. I do believe that the NCAA should come under some regulations that could make for a bit more even disbursement of NCAA monies. They tout the amateur status for students while they line their pockets with mega bucks. I believe head coaches should have a salary cap along with much of the staff and of course Emmert's $2.4M seems too much. I know that in a free market country that may be stepping on some toes but this is what's fueling the whole argument with paying athletes.

I guess Andrew Luck and others who got real degrees did it by magic? Football didn’t stop Berrios from keeping a 3.9 and getting the degree he wanted You can be a student first if you want too. It’s nobodies fault but the players that they don’t.
Yes please cite the anomalies as the example. Very persuasive.

Again I don't disagree with you that there are problems with outright paying them but the fact that you won't concede there are problems with the way the system is currently makes your responses less compelling.

Your tone of tough cookies ignores the fact that coaches like Jimbo making millions in Texas wouldn't have had that opportunity if it wasn't for Crab Legs and Dalvin Cook.

They were legendary talents that couldn't capitalize off of their hard work until they left school. That doesn't sound like capitalism to me.

But yes continue with the boo ho come work in the real world as a way of moving the discussion.

Things will change whether you like it or not. There are always people like you that respond with you should be happy with what you have.

Colored water fountains = see you have your own water

Sit in the back of the bus = at least you're not walking

Lmao comparing Rosa Parks to big time D1 football players is a great example. I would love to be as “opressed” as you claim they are.

And by the way you are making my point for me. Jimbo wouldn’t make 7 mil a year without the players, well no CEO would make millions a year without employees. The players are playing football for free education, housing, food, nutrition etc. the same way everyone else is working for money.

In today’s world most jobs require a college degree. In football it requires 3 years of college football. Its nearly the same concept for everyone. Except for those legendary talents you mentioned that couldn’t capitalize on their own work for those three years, are about to capitalize 1,000 fold compared to everyone else once they get out of school. College is an audition for the rest of your life for those who attend, whether you play a sport or not.

Compensation isn’t always the same but it’s still compensation. No system is perfect, but to act like it isn’t working is insane.
