The little things matters....

We lost all hope when Fisch left.. dude could manufacture offense and get us in the endzone.

Fisch lined an OT (S Henderson) at the X WR Spot.....and Peep this...he also had a QB go in Motion and take a snap, which by the way burned SMorris' RS late in the season against USF. The Game Announcers were like: "I have never seen a QB go in motion and then take the snap."

Fisch was clown. Golden hired the guy sight unseen and over the phone. Who does that?

Eh.....Look I think we all know Golden maybe the worst head coach to roam the sidelines but it's a stretch to call Fisch a clown. Was he an amazing OC? No but he was/is competent for the most part. His forte is coaching QB's and that is exactly what Jim Hardballs hired him to do and Jim isn't in the habit of hiring clowns.

Broke, you can talk crap about Golden all you want now, it isn't going to change the fact you were a slurper this time last year. You're trying too hard.

Additionally, Miami has vastly underperformed since 2003.

He did do those things. JF did well with J12 in 2011. His tricks plays were laughable, which is why I call him a Clown.

Miami has vastly underperformed considering the talent on the team over the past few years with golden and co at helm. We all know that offensive scheme and defensive scheme coley, golden and donofrio orchestrated was down right horrible. Miami legit should have been at LEAST a ten win team last year if we had If you consider the offensive and defensive schemes horrible performance, being the most penalized team last year in the country, was in the bottom half of the 3rd down conversion rates and kicked the MOST field goals by far of any team in the country... You can't be an elite team like that you are basically playing against yourself. So with that being said we have had many great additions to the U since December 2nd 2015 richts hire date. I love that richt throws in the endzone we hardly did that last year which caused us to often get stopped in the endzone and have to settle for field goals to frequently. This change alone will help put more points on the board and help us become a more efficient offense. Exciting times for this season man

I'm confused Brock. You claim that we all knew how horrible the schemes were under the former regime yet you whole heartedly supported Golden and were calling for him to get more time. Maybe everybody else understood how horrible the schemes were, especially at a school like Miami, but you were pretty late to that party.

This notion that I was some golden supporter is utterly ridiculous.

Homey, you were a Golden Slurper. In fact, you slurped so hard that I heard about it while I was on Insidetheu.com. Now, that is some serious slurping. It's all good, Homey. You wanted to believe in Golden longer than most...I guess.

Did you not see what I posted of 2014 screenshots of me being off the golden bandwagon. People crazy on here

You bring these things on yourself. Stop bringing up the past regime and posters will stop reminding you how much sooner they knew Golden sucked than you did. I waited too long on Golden. At the same time, I don't talk about him in every thread and am thrilled we have Richt. No one here is arguing Golden and crew are even in the same coaching ballpark as the current staff. Why bring it up constantly?

And nothing was wrong with my post I'm just saying Miami increasing its win total will be easier due to richt changing some things up to help Miami succeed more in the redzone, 3rd down and on defense. Ain't nothing wrong with that. It's just a bunch of nut jugglers on here who circle jerk each other saying I was a golden supporter. Its stupid at this point.

LOL...how much free time do you have on your hands that you can go back to threads from almost two years ago to try to find a couple of posts that show you were upset with Golden one day. Everybody remembers you defending him as recently as the early part of last season. It's fine that you were the last one on the bandwagon to get rid of him but please stop pretending you were leading the charge. If you would just stop bringing them up you wouldn't have to be reminded of your lack of judgement.

Ok that's fine but all of last summer you were back on board with Fat Al, touting his "new" defense with no two gapping and how much better the WRs were going to be under the tutelage of the Receiver Whisperer himself, Kevin Beard.

This. It's one thing if it were one poster saying it but many are witnesses. I guess we are the crazy ones. If I remember correctly, @Franchise would destroy him when he defended Golden last year. Then again, Franchise has destroyed many posters on this board so I could be mistaken.

That's not true at all RE: Fisch burning Morris' shirt with the trick play.

He started the opener that year vs Maryland with Jacory suspended.

For whatever reason,Kaaya was horrible in the RZ.

Last year ,1 in 20 throws in the RZ were picked off. Outside the RZ only 1 in 160 resulted in a pick.

He was night and day in and out of the RZ. Statistically one the best in the NCAA outside the RZ and one of the worst in it.

Why? I don't know.

Kaaya has less margin in the red zone as a pure pocket passer. He's never going to extend the play and force defenders to cover an extra second or two, which is so significant in cramped quarters.

Red zone completion percentage is supposed to suffer. It's hardly a 1/1 relationship to the rest of the field. It can also vary considerably from year to year, even with the same team and same quarterback. The interception rate is vital, as you pointed out. Richt is not going to tolerate 3 red zone interceptions per year, like Kaaya managed in 2014 and 2015. Georgia threw a total of 9 red zone interceptions in the 8 seasons from 2008-2015.

Here are the Canes red zone run/pass numbers from 2008-2015, followed by Georgia's over the same period

2008: 53 runs, 54 passes
2009: 90 runs, 49 passes
2010: 80 runs, 48 passes
2011: 82 runs, 35 passes
2012: 71 runs, 67 passes
2013: 96 runs, 48 passes
2014: 68 runs, 65 passes
2015: 87 runs, 65 passes

Georgia under Richt:

2008: 73 runs, 44 passes
2009: 67 runs, 30 passes
2010: 98 runs, 56 passes
2011: 79 runs, 56 passes
2012: 77 runs, 50 passes
2013: 102 runs, 76 passes
2014: 115 runs, 55 passes
2015: 66 runs, 27 passes

***

As you can see, contrary to conventional wisdom, and some posts earlier in this thread, the Canes have not been overly run heavy in the red zone, including 3 seasons with parity or near parity -- 2008, 2012 and 2014. Richt with the basic power formations and more physical style has not had anything resembling 50/50 in a given season.

The overall numbers are Miami at 627 runs and 431 passes, for a 1.45/1 ratio. Georgia had 677 runs and 394 passes, equating to a 1.72/1 ratio. Otherwise stated, Miami ran the ball 59.3% of the time in the red zone while Georgia ran it 63.2%. Of course, Georgia has generally been the superior team during that stretch, and often by wide margin.

Odd that Georgia had so few red zone plays period in 2015, after very high numbers the prior two seasons.

Those basic formations and greater commitment to the running game should allow Kaaya to overcome his weakness in the red zone. For example, I make many wagers per season on Stanford with the gorgeous fundamental football. Kevin Hogan really ticked me off in his first season as full time starter in 2013. He missed many open receivers in the end zone, and my wagers suffered. He completed only 43%. But he bumped that steadily to 54% in 2014 and 61% in 2015. Hogan totaled 23 red zone touchdown passes and only 2 interceptions in those two seasons combined. Late last season I grudgingly had to concede that Hogan had made up for 2013. Granted, Hogan is quite athletic and can extend the play unlike Kaaya.

fisch had jacory looking serviceable and morris looking like a stud. He left and morris came down to earth, really quickly.

Too bad the NFL and everyone else disagrees with your assessment of J. Fisch. Could he out-think the room at times? Yes, so did Gary Stevens, so does Chip Kelly. Playcalling is an art, and the better ones tend to think in ways that aren't always the most logical. Fisch was a **** good playcaller that would have done wonders with Kaaya. He made Stephen Morris a potential 1st round draft pick before Coley ruined him.
