We see things like the comments from Will Howard about how players want to win so they go to places that have a recent history, things like that. Maybe I just really like a challenge or have an overabundance of confidence, but I can make a better name for myself by helping a team break into the top tier than helping one stay there. If I'm getting even more money for doing that, it's just icing on the cake.

I don't think any UGA writers know jack **** and the narrative they've been creating for the past 48+ hours is very simple: UGA is a better choice from a football perspective (on-field product and development) and if UM is the pick, it is purely a NIL-based decision.

If UGA wins out, Georgia writers will paint the picture of Kirby Smart as a recruiting savant that runs such a dominant and well-rounded program that he doesn't need to outbid other schools for blue-chip prospects. Conversely, if UM is the pick, you can't fault Kirby, kid chose the money over development, Smart is a man of integrity that isn't going to overpay, etc. It essentially absolves the UGA staff of missing out on the Nation's No. 1 player if he doesn't land there.

That being said, I didn't feel confident when Cantwell scheduled the Oregon visit and pushed back his commitment. Same thing with the UGA visit. But at the end of the day, nobody really knows and as @DMoney referenced, if there is any instance in which CIS and other writers are going to be kept in the dark, this is it.

Something that caught my attention was when the kid said his mom wanted him to let the coaches know before, but his dad wanted it to be a surprise to everybody. Sounds like dad is eating this up and wants to build suspense.
