The JoJo thread

sidenote- on anybody knocking jojo's character is wild, man has been on the sideline waiting for his chance and supporting his teammates and getting hype on every good play. not a play that has quit or throwing fits.

speaks volumes to the player he is.

another player not getting any action at all is Brantley - with his success in his career so far, this is a huge step back for him but to see him on the sideline as well engaged and getting hype truly speaks volumes about them.

love to see it.
That’s great man, but he still broke a team rule and needs to grow up. Those are facts and not up for debate. He was going to be depended on big time this year and he should’ve known better. Now, hopefully he learned his lesson and this will never be an issue again.

I guess our 2001 team should have all been suspended

I can't imagine how many people you would have wanted kicked off the team after we fought the gators before the game in 2000
Fighting the gators on Bourbon Street and driving under the influence are two totally different things. come on man.

I’m not saying getting high and driving is okay, everyone’s different. But common sense says it’s not some terrible crime and the world isn’t going to end if someone takes a few bong rips or smokes a blunt and drives.

I’m also not saying kids should be allowed to do whatever they want, but there’s a difference between minor incidents that don’t need to be blown out of proportion and serious ones where a suspension or kicking a kid off the team is warranted.
If that were the end of it yes. It significantly escalated when the result is an accident. Then your bad decisions get magnified.

Then not accepting your punishment, you bad decisions just get multiplied again because youre making bs excuses. Period. That's all there is to it.

Owning a gun isn't wrong. Shooting someone is. Getting high isn't wrong. Getting high and then into an accident is. Clearly your decision making isn't very good if those are the situations you put yourself in often. And the problem is it likely isn't a 1-off

Also isn't it Jimmy Johnson who said different players get treated differently? Jojo hasn't earned jack **** to get preferential treatment that anyone close to a Cam Ward would get.

he world isn’t going to end if someone takes a few bong rips or smokes a blunt and drives
I was observing this entire ridiculous thread from a distance and had to interject. I cannot believe you are dying on this hill. It's ridiculous. Driving impaired is driving impaired. God forbid it lead to an accident. You give consequences to men, because you hope they will learn from their mistakes. This program is not only trying to make great players and have a good W-L ratio. It develops men. I know many people harp on Mario's insisting on "elite human beings", but that is truly what this is about

That first paragraph is just insane. "Everyone's different". So it's OK for some, but maybe not for others. As for what defines "crime" in our world, it's not "common sense" but actual statutes. And maybe it won't be YOUR world that ends if someone "takes a few bong rips or smokes a blunt and drivess", but it could be someone else's world that ends if a family member or loved one is killed in such an incident. After all, it's not "some terrible crime" to drive at excessive speeds, but it certainly became a tragedy when Aldarius Hayes killed three people doing so.

Now I know why you are the Trader family spokesman. Because you are arguing for the same entitled special treatment that JoJo seems to be demanding. "Hey coach, I did my time, now I should be put right back into the starting lineup because I'm talented, and if you don't do it, I'll have my casual acquaintance TouchMoney26 tell the world that this is all about your ego". You don't seem to realize that the question of "suspension" has already been decided, we are now in the "have you learned your lesson and grown from it" phase. And, sadly, that phase is not going so well for JoJo or yourself.

Some of our friend’s comments defy logic. Can’t suggest all accidents are not the same & this wasn’t serious. Every accident has the potential to be tragic.
Kirby Smart & UGA dealt with a rash of speeding incidents & what our friend might deem minor accidents. Where possible it was kept quiet & punishment not earth shattering. Then, a speeding incident happened that led to a not so minor accident - two people killed & another maimed for life. The lack of prior discipline became a national story & noted in a subsequent lawsuit.
Finally, hard believing anyone claiming to be a friend or associated with JoJo would bring up & continue this nonsense. Why fuel a young man’s dirty laundry to be aired so publicly?

Yeah it affects everybody diffrent. But, overall I know nfl ncaa players smoke weed and live an normal life driving etc for the past 60 years lol

If edge and willus hit a blunt and drove a car.. I wouldnt say anything
You say that until you get into an accident after a crash that you have and the cop gives you a DUI.

Yes weed should be legalized, it is medicinal for some folks and that is great, however, if you get caught with it sack up and face the consequences. It's all fun and games until **** goes sideways.

Tell that to all the young folks that lives got ****ed up for getting caught with/ receiving a DUI for weed that don't have a top 25 division 1 football program with tons of connects to really good legal advice/defenders to have all the legalities swept under the rug.

Like tf are we doing here?

i'm not readding 55 pages did this ever turn into anything? i'm assuming not since i don't see anything anywhere else. who wants to give a TLDR on the dum dum post

We may have had mutual friends. During the mid to late 80's specifically 85-88 the Hollywood Snortotorium was my home away from home lol. The first show I saw there was Iron Maiden on the Powerslave Tour in Feb 85 then 2 more times in Jan 87 and Aug 88. Saw Ratt and Motley Crue there both twice. Van Halen/Hagar in April 86. Dio in Oct 85. David Lee Roth in 86 two nights in a row. Ozzy Osbourne in 86, Bon Jovi in 87(Took my little sister so I had to go) and Whitesnake in 88. I saw Megadeth at the Cameo Theatre in Miami Beach in 88 and Simple Minds at the James L Knight Center. Saw Metallica at the Knight Center in 89 with Queensryche opening on the Justice Tour. I have an account on SetlistFM and it has every show I've ever attended. I moved up to Orlando in Aug 88 and saw plenty of shows at the Orlando Arena. I went to Lollapalooza in 92 with Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Lush, Jesus Mary Chain, Fishbone, Ministry and Red Hot Chili Peppers headlining. That show was 2 hits of Skeleton Key and I started peaking exactly as Ministry took the stage and Al Jorgenson walked up to his mic stand made of the skull of a Goat/Ram and said "This is called NWO". The Chili's were fantastic but the one buzzkill was when I realized that John Frusciante was not up on stage. He had quit in Japan a couple weeks earlier but nobody knew yet.
That’s a big time list. On the grunge side, all you need is STP and Nirvana.

I saw that 86 Ozzie show - at the Capitol Center in Maryland with Metallica opening up. I saw those Van Halen shows as well - going back to diver down.

Question of all the 2001 team how many were involved in car accidents while and given a DUI?

Im not condoning any illegal behaviors. Its been very unfortunate the route of some of these kids who make bad choices or mistakes on what happens next. Just want to win and have our best players play and dominate. You treat your team like a family and thats how it should be.

Anyways

Listen dog, I hear you, being suspended for weed is dumb and doesn't usually happen, however, when you involve a motor vehicle only a few months after having a teammate kill 3 innocents and have their life ruined because of a motor vehicle, there's going to be consequences.

Thankfully for JoJo no one seemed to be seriously injured or killed and he should go on to have a career in football.

"I'm just trying to pin you down on your insane claims. That Miami coaches should DO NOTHING to a player involved in a car accident (involving other issues) simply because he's "our 2nd most talented player...and will prove that soon".

so if we were in the playoffs last year and during a bye before our playoff match, if Cam ward were to get into a car accident involving other issues, you wouldn't play him or you wouldn't want to play him, or the right thing to do is not play him???
Bro, we went on probation in the 90’s partially because DE slipped Sapp’s positive weed test in his desk drawer, before the Orange Bowl.
George Mira, Jr., tested positive for PED’s just prior to the NC and Bernard Clark stepped in and took over.

I get your point, but if we make these guys accountable now, hopefully we don’t have to make that decision before a playoff game.

I'm not saying I didn't like them, but I always felt people got a little too gung ho about Stone Temple Pilots at the expense of Pearl Jam and Soundgarden.
