(The) Indiana (Game)

They run pick and rolls for their dline.. They running plays and stunts to open up one guy.. Will be very tough for our oline because we lock on man in stunts, which opens it up for one guy to take two essentially..

We don’t lock on man on man. We pass off stunts pretty dang well most of the time. I’d be interested to see if their DL hold the OT while stunting toward the OG allowing the LB to loop with no OT to pick them up. You hardly ever see dl called for holding.

Not necessarily holding but they will set picks and loop around.. Ill see if I can find a play..

Should be a run play at 1:17 mark and the replay Kirk points it out..

This is post game where DC calls it pick n roll and how they coach for that from UO game..

we ran the ball against OSU but lets not forget OSU had a month off, I am not so sure that would have been the case if OSU was sharp or had a warm up game like us. That 2nd half OSU dominated us and we were saved by a bad holding call against them.
Remember Jeremiah Smith was really banged up when they played osu whereas when we played osu he was healthy and it showed. J Smith was their whole offense against us.

The RG should have picked up 97 on that play. Instead he picked up no one.

They aren't going to stop our run. It's gonna be brutal hand to hand combat with experienced dudes for 60 minutes. We are built for this. We are bigger and more violent. You can know what we dong and it doesn't matter. Our OL has seen all the stuff they do before. Our DC knows all their schemes.

There's no preparation they can do to simulate what #3, #4, and #12 are gonna bring.

This is the most confident I have been so far.

I felt that the ole miss stunts were getting in to Beck. IU does a lot of that and are very good at it.

We are a bad matchup for them. They get by with experience and being sound. Our entire team is built to just manhandle teams with violence. They know what we will do, but can the smallest team we've played this year deal with our power and violence. Seems like they play right into our hands here.

Mendoza must be hit hard early (see Ohio State game)
He is throwing dines now but a couple of body blows can disrupt the **** put him
Blitz the LBs early and target the ribcage

We shall see if Mendoza and his WR can go 6-6 on fades/back shoulders with our big CBs. Their WRs don’t scare anybody their RBs don’t scare anybody. They just play extremely disciplined and clean. If we don’t give them a turnover it’ll be a close game

Texas AM, ole Miss, Iu all run stunts they all show simulated blitzers then drop out some. The reason Ole Miss had more success IMO, they are massive with 2 good edge rushing LB in 1&4. IU doesn’t have an edge guy. They overload inside and bring pressure from the A&B mostly. Our biggest weakness has been speed outside vs Bell forcing Beck to step up. VS Texas A&M, we did well because cash wasn’t as fast as he was big. VS OSU you saw 92 get past bell a few times forcing Beck to step up and run or throw faster. Vs Ole Miss, bell was getting beat some by 1 or 4 forcing Beck to step up. Now Beck for his part has been getting really good with pocket awareness.

I’ll try to rewatch more film but I don’t know any school that runs no gaps like Miami. That makes for easy Duo, fast hand offs of stunts without having someone split the blockers, and a much tougher life for a team like IU.
