(The) Indiana (Game)

We are a bad matchup for them. They get by with experience and being sound. Our entire team is built to just manhandle teams with violence. They know what we will do, but can the smallest team we've played this year deal with our power and violence. Seems like they play right into our hands here.
This. They are very thin and very small on both lines.

Texas AM, ole Miss, Iu all run stunts they all show simulated blitzers then drop out some. The reason Ole Miss had more success IMO, they are massive with 2 good edge rushing LB in 1&4. IU doesn’t have an edge guy. They overload inside and bring pressure from the A&B mostly. Our biggest weakness has been speed outside vs Bell forcing Beck to step up. VS Texas A&M, we did well because cash wasn’t as fast as he was big. VS OSU you saw 92 get past bell a few times forcing Beck to step up and run or throw faster. Vs Ole Miss, bell was getting beat some by 1 or 4 forcing Beck to step up. Now Beck for his part has been getting really good with pocket awareness.

I’ll try to rewatch more film but I don’t know any school that runs no gaps like Miami. That makes for easy Duo, fast hand offs of stunts without having someone split the blockers, and a much tougher life for a team like IU.
Its not like we haven't seen teams crashing the a and b gaps with LB to stop our DUO. This is how we got runs to pop vs A&M. I feel like Fletcher is seeing it great right now. Just like last year, it took a while to get the run game going but we have it now. I feel like better blocking by our TE has helped. Also all the inserts and scrapers by the WR

There's going to be times in this game when Indiana has everything covered. Beck is going to have to process everything quickly and just get it out to Fletch or Marty in the flats. Similar to the Ohio State game he should just take what the defense gives him.

But there will be other times when our WRs will be one-on-one with their short DBs. They are going to have to win those battles and 50-50 balls. That will make things much easier to keep them from loading the box and just playing the run all the time.

Long thread so I haven’t read it all but the one thing I haven’t seen mentioned, sorry if it has been, is how hard it is to go 16-0. I think IU finally makes some uncharacteristic mistakes this game and it costs them.

They do have a lot of pressure on them. Let's see if they live up to the hype.
And let's not make it seem like they are playing perfectly. Bama was able to sack and pressure Mendoza a bunch.
We should be able to get to him too.

So now that it looks like Indiana is prob the team we are facing what is the gameplan? OSU gameplan?
Why would you think we'd use the same game plan as OSU? If there's any team we should be prepared for it's them. Because they're essentially a carbon copy of us. Main differences are they're more pass oriented while we are obviously more run oriented. They're less talented but more than make up for it by being **** near flawless in execution. The critics of Mendoza have been slightly correct in the fact he's a game manager. But he's an elite game manager. Does exactly what's asked of him and it's difficult to get him out of that mode. We NEED to get home on the pass rush and play a flawless game when it relates to discipline. Set the edge, don't miss assignments etc... Gonna be a **** of a game but it's entirely on us how it plays out. We play a clean game and we got a **** good chance to leave with #6. They can't stop our run game and once they load the box we can pick them apart.

One thing g that will not be mentioned is that it’s a different type of mindset being considered the favorite - it can really mess with your mind if you e never been in that position.
Gonna see if they can handle all the media accolades that is being said about them- however in the quiet time when no one is around are they asking there selves if they really are this good or will they second guess themselves

Oregon is making them look better than they really are. They are good, but they are not the 85 Bears.
Let's not be those people. While they're far from perfect and unbeatable, they are a very good team & this is a perfect example of elite coaching at all tiers and elite execution. We gotta knock them out of their comfort area and play a flawless game ourselves or people will say we did the same thing oregon did.

I feel we have an advantage in the KO return game. Looking for Marion to break one as their kicker hangs it from time to time.

You'd think we were Tulane the way people are talking about us. It's perfect for us. Indiana is gonna here all week how they're gonna kill us then feel that initial push from our Oline & Dline & think "maybe this is gonna be tougher then we thought"

Not old enough to remember the 1984 game against Nebraska but it sure does have a similar feel knowing the history

Big underdog at home against a juggernaut that apparently can’t be beat

Meanwhile we are just a team full of dawgs that don’t give a **** about any of it

Mendoza must be hit hard early (see Ohio State game)
He is throwing dines now but a couple of body blows can disrupt the **** put him
Blitz the LBs early and target the ribcage
Hopefully he’s having flashbacks to what Wes did to him last year.

they are impressive and clearly a machine

but oregon handed them 21 points and then gave up
Oregon was pathetic. One of the worst playoff showings I’ve seen from any team. Not taking away anything from Indiana but my goodness what a crap effort from The Ducks. Moore throws a pick 6 on the very first play of the game. A bad one at that. 3 Indiana players right there coving a short out route and he tried forcing that? Wow. So Oregon receives the ball and is down 7-0 with 14:49 to go. You can’t get off to a worse start. It is impossible lol.

Then his fumble inside their own 5 was just laughable. He winds up to throw and his arm hits his own RB. Poor Oregon. I feel bad for that fanbase

What if Beck goes out there and throws 5 tds?
The Malicat would’ve worked if he ran to the right behind COOPER and MAUIGOA easy 5 yard gain. When you got to have it get behind 73 and 61.
