(The) Indiana (Game)

Pistol has given our RBs that split second to find better holes vs being forced into one then bounce after having momentum nearly stopped if there isn’t a hole. Vs SMU, those big DT stopped those zone runs out of the gun.
yes. Fletcher has been very patient and allowed the gaps to open when we run DUO

we ran the ball against OSU but lets not forget OSU had a month off, I am not so sure that would have been the case if OSU was sharp or had a warm up game like us. That 2nd half OSU dominated us and we were saved by a bad holding call against them.
Sure, OSU got things untracked on offense a bit in the second half, but our RBs had 13 carries for like 74 yards in the second half against OSU. We ran the ball against them the whole game.

The IU DL is much, much smaller than OSU's too. I'm open to hearing an argument as to why IU will be able to stop our run game better than OSU did. I just don't see it.

They will shoot the gaps some in pullers and are fast enough to get to the backs if there is any hesitation. Expect a few tfl due to it. Their LB are big, fast, and sure tacklers. Lots of 3-5 yard runs.

The smallest team we've played all year thinks they will be the team to stop our power run game. Make it make sense.

Welcome to the board Buckeye! I’ll have to disagree with you guys
“dominating” us in the second half. We re-established our dominance on the lines in the 4th when it mattered the most.

Indiana very physical up front all huge NFL type (Haus Cartwright) beef linemen no frills all power they road grade maul.
They will pound the rock then pull up and go vertical, there receivers sell routes on each and every play that there getting the ball.

Sounds like a team we all know and love , yes there a copy of us they / us will not flinch.

Indiana and Miami are both monster type linemen all at ELITE in all phases.

This NC game will rival a NFL championship game the only difference will be both teams wearing CFB uniforms this is the level both Miami and Indiana are at in this game.

We’ve got to score any time we’re inside the fifty , FG kicker priceless.
Their OL and DL is not in our league.

Their guards weigh less than 315. The three guards we play don't weigh less than 325. Cooper is 345. That size difference will be on display across plenty of positions. It doesn't mean we'll win but they'll be a clear advantage at the positions where mass generally matters.
Their OL and DL is not in our league.
Josh Pate said we're a team full of creatures for a reason.

I’d temper that a bit. Just finished watching some OSU and PSU games and IU’s trenches are pretty good. Their DL is slippery and they have a couple bulls in there (Tucker), but I gotta say, I was completely underwhelmed with the osu and psu OL.

Their defense is heavy zone but they always are aggressive on third downs.

Their OL is solid and is a really good unit. Don’t think they give up many pressures in general but they haven’t faced our DL. OSU DL didn’t really do much on them.

What concerns me is Mendoza. He makes really good decisions. Throws a great deep ball, loves the sideline plays but most of all, is very elusive in the pocket for scrambles (he’ll also have a couple draws called).

On offense, their WRs are a problem. As a unit, I’d argue that cooper, surratt and Becker are excellent and right up there with OSU’s trio.

I'm not trying to start an argument here, but....this was exactly what Miami used to do to every team that tried to bully us with a power running game back in the day. Our wiry DLs and undersized linebackers and backs found ways to get to the ballcarriers even when being blocked by linemen and tight ends with fifty pounds on them. Now, I am aware that was primarily through raw speed, athleticism, and sheer force of will - and I am not comparing this Indiana defense to any of our previous Canes squads. I'm only saying that there are measures, and there are countermeasures. Indiana hasn't won all their games by being tiny, slow, weak and stupid. It would be foolish to assume they will play that way.

They are elusive at LB and DL. Our 1” gaps will make it much tougher for them to shoot gaps. Honestly could see those DT on duo Skates with the line pushed 3-5yards a bunch.
They run pick and rolls for their dline.. They running plays and stunts to open up one guy.. Will be very tough for our oline because we lock on man in stunts, which opens it up for one guy to take two essentially..
