***** the Gus Haters Thread

All that means is no RBs have separated themselves from the pack. Gus may be the most physically talented back (I'll take Walton and Gray over him) but he isn't the best running back. I expect to see a healthy dose of Walton and Yearby. Walton is the only RB Richt offered while at Georgia by the way.

"There wont be just 1 or 2 featured RB's"

What I am hoping it means is that all three backs have certain strengths and weaknesses and Richt wants to put each one of them into position to succeeded within different formations and packages accordingly.

Gus Edwards has to produce.
Scrimmage stats:

Mark Walton – 7 carries, 29 yards, 1TD
Gus Edwards – 7 carries, 13 yards
Joseph Yearby – 4 carries, 25 yards
Travis Homer – 7 carries, 22 yards

Gus had the worst YPC average of the 4 backs. He should consider transfer after the season, Trayone Gray also.

Lol it means what it means. Richt even with first rounders at rb at UGA had rotations where more than one guy carried the rock. He rides his horses, but doesn't ride them in the ground.

What it means is that he had much better RB's on his roster at GA. None of these dudes are game changers.

That is true but there isnt a more talented RB then CHubb in the nation...but Gus is the more talented then Walton and Yearby thats all I am saying

Fournette, cook. Both ahead of Chubb.

Barkley from penn state is the best RB in America.

He had 60 yards vs UGA in the bowl. He's not top 5. McCaffrey, Chubb, Fournette, Cook, & Freeman all better.

Yeah but it was 1's vs 2's. So he was probably running behind 2nd or 3rd team OL against the 1st team DL (good luck with that). Also they may have been using him in mostly short-yardage situations to help remind him to run like he is 230 and not 190.

I did a post a bit ago about UGA's 2005 campaign when they used a three-headed running back of Danny Ware, Kregg Lumpkin and Thomas Brown. I suspect that's exactly what you'll see here this year.

Agreed, as long as it's not, "Oh look, there's Gus in the power I, it's a run up the middle!" Ideally I'd like to see it mixed up, because football is as much mental as it is physical. I hate it when I call out plays before they happen. If I know what's up, you can bet every defender on the field knows it. I can't tell you how much better I feel about having Mark Richt in control of the O and not Pat Nix or Techmo Super Bowl Coley.

Lmfao at Gus being the best running back on this roster. Yearby and Walton were top 10 backs coming out of high school, but neither are game changers. Hahaha. Give me a break.

To all the Gus haters, I will tell you why I feel Gus is our only hope at RB..just answer this question honestly

Do you think Yearby or Mark Walton would have scored on this play ?

This right here was the most impressive run from a running back not named DUke in the last 2 years.. This was against Cincinatti which would be equivalent to an aberage ACC team..Not FAMU.. He is our only hope, our savior, He is our NEO at the RB position. If he doesnt produce like I think he can we will be in the bottom half of the ACC in rushing again. It is what it is

Maybe this year will be different but last year Walton proved he cannot break the long run------ 3.55 ypc and no runs over 30 yds despite having over a 100 chances--------someone recently posted his highlights from last year --ok wiggle --ok instincts--very good hands--rarely fumbles---but look at him in the open field,he has no speed,4.65 is my guess-no where close to elite speed.

Point is--big plays win games-check the stats ,that's a fact and Walton has yet to prove he can make a big play.

Give me Yearby,Gus then Walton

Hey man I hope Gus proves people wrong because that means we would be pretty ******* good! Either way I think we will be good at RB this year (imo)
