The Gattis experiment

You think like our coaches.

Teams get stuffed at the goaline all time when the d knows exactly what they’re doing.

It’s simple yet difficult at the same time which is why you need adjustments…

what if Mario is micro-managing the playcalling? Might not be Gattis so much in certain situations..
This isn’t a what if scenario this is a fact and has been a fact at every stop for Mario. Until Mario takes a step back and checks his ego at the door over this physicality crap…. This is miamis offense we will see throughout his tenure regardless of new OC’s

Also did we not have 57 pass attempts yesterday and mix in tempo and RPO?

Which is what everyone asked for.

So a staff got together and redid their game plan
And philosophy and it because our Oline can’t get push against the worst run defense in the country the OC is trash?

The expectations of porsters on this board are insane at times.

Like did you ever play a sport ever?

**** have you played Uno?

There is never going to be a perfect game called.
Or played.

What you are hoping for is that when the time comes you and your team can make the plays that will win you the game.

Crucial drops, missed blocks, a key fumble, a few plays that of course if you knew they were blitzing you’d call different…

But that is the game.
All great points and if we hold our class together we will finally have the hogs to run Gattis system. I just think we might need to move in a different direction. Maybe I'm wrong. Heck I hope I'm wrong.

there is nothing to scheme up on the 2 yard line.

You line and RB have to win period.
This is a simplistic take. You can spread the defense out and if they don't take enough defenders out of the box you throw against the 1 on 1 coverage. If they do take defenders out of box you run with the numbers advantage.

We crammed all 11 guys in a tight set and ran into a numbers disadvantage 3 straight times. Then called a pass from a run set on 4th down. That play is a 1st or 2nd down play because it relies on the D thinking you are going to run.

At this point, I'd rather see a pick pass route scheme and chance it getting called rather than continuing to run into a pile up that hasn't moved forward.

Inexcusable coverage bust, Crucial drops, missed blocks, a key fumble, a few plays that of course if you knew they were blitzing you’d call different…

Most of these mopes have never done anything sports related. We had more than 500 yds of offense. Play-calling isn’t the biggest issue here. We have a lot of low football IQ players (thank Manny’s terrible recruiting), and maybe a combined 4-5 guys out of our starting 22 that could start at another P5.

Been saying this since A&M. If we even convert on half our opportunities, we win every game by 10+. This team can’t execute. Knighton fumble, Mallory being Mallory on a crucial third down, the secondary ****ting the bed on a long drive, not being able to punch it in at the 1yd line, etc.

Exactly. Yes the coaches have plays they want back.

On 3rd and 9 dropping Harvey into coverage is one I’m sure they want back…but if Maye is fooled there and throws it right into the hands of Harvey for a pick then all of sudden it’s a genius call.

but the plays were there yesterday and we just didn’t get it done.

a year 3 hire that Mario brought in in year 1.

if you bring in an OC and he has to change his entire offensive philosophy then it was a bad hire. what he’s best at calling is not what we’re best at executing. it was a year 3 hire that Mario made in year 1.

THERE IS NO MAGIC.

No "but what about this scheme bro!??" ridiculousness.
CIS Porster Logic 101

Porster: “The players are good, the staff sucks.”

Reason; then they should be able to punch the ball in from the 2 yard line vs the worst run defense in FBS..

Porster: “Naw bro, everyone knows our line and skill players aren’t that good. That’s why we need moar skeemz”

So when a coach takes a job he shouldn’t start to implement his vision for the program and system until 3 years in?

i get it you have a narrative but this is possibly the worst take I’ve ever read on this site.

Really enjoyed the first 2 plays of the game, great game planning after a bye week.
Maybe that should of told you what was going to happen when you had 1st and goal at the 2.
Maybe he should of called the flea flicker a few more times ………
BTW - TVD is not very good for the planned QB runs.

This. Gattis obviously changed up everything and was spinning the rock.

Oline failing to convey that goal line Td

Rooster fumble

Are two crippling plays/sequences that led to the eventual loss.

His plày calling works fine with an average OL.

Miami does not have an average OL. They are putrid in run game.
If our OL is as bad as you say why are we running the same bs that hasn’t worked in the same area for the entire season? So that is on the coach. Just like lining up 85 in-line to run block knowing he hasn’t done it in four years . That’s dumb!!
