The game just changed forever

Imo great for the players; but there are some valid questions going forward about implementation.

We should get college football games again. Hopefully they'll port em to PC so I can play it.

Don't student athletes have a union? If so, they need to jump in the fire immediately and work out a good deal for the players.

Don’t break their hearts like that.

Please................

The Potamkons (sic) have been in Miami for 60+ years.

Miami has 4M people residing in Dade County alone... The potential for sponsorship money is at least 20x and maybe 40x more in Miami than in the entire state of Alabama.

South Florida is on pace to sell 204,712 cars during 2019. Alabama will not sell that in a decade. If they can get the team rolling, most small businesses will want to sponsor a player.

The cars sold in a given year in South Florida outnumber the total amount of healthy teeth currently in place in the entire state of Alabama!

Our players were being given luxury cars..phantoms, Ferrari’s, wraith‘s & we sucked...see jermaine grace & AQM.

you guys have no idea
I get that... I think we all know about that one. It was pretty well publicized. They also were not "given" these cars. They let them borrow them and drive them like a rental.

If you are talking about jersey sales, there are a **** of a lot more Bama/UGA/LSU fans and alums than Miami to buy those.

If you are talking about endorsements of businesses, I think a car dealership in Birmingham would have a **** of a lot more incentive to sign a player to an endorsement to drive traffic than in Miami. It is also more likely those business owners are fans or alums of that state's team than in Miami. So I chalk that one up.

About the only thing you will have more of in Miami are jock-sniffers and wanna-be agents who will let guys drive luxury cars for a weekend or go to a strip club. I just don't see how Miami comes out ahead in this deal. I am not saying our guys won't get a piece of the pie and some money. I am saying that bigger state schools have more volume, alums, and local businesses to feed more money to the players and I am also saying that their compliance departments will be a **** of a lot less conservative than ours in what they will allow and what limits are pushed.

You're right that AQM and Grace got those cars. Then they got multiple game suspensions/booted from the team for that small issue. Do you think Bama would have had them do more than sit the first drive against a directional school?

Before players weren't getting paid if they stayed home. Now even if they get paid more elsewhere staying home can at least pay. But I'm not convinced home grown products won't sell more by staying home.

Don Chaney gonna look good on that thing in UM uniform and his TD rings. Gotta keep the turnover chain also. Developers will eat that **** up and it will be all over the **** game. Good for the Canes is how I see it. We are still a lightning rod. Diaz really needs to step up now.

Go Canes!

I think this helps Notre Dame too in addition to us and USC. The media market in Chicago is huge and that’s a huge ND base.
I live in Atlanta... if people don't think that Bama, UGA, and Auburn alums are the majority of the city with countless sponsorship opportunities then I don't know what to say. Same with Nashville and Tennessee or Dallas/Houston with A&M and UT. The point is, there are plenty of big cities with strong school networks across the country.

This will be HUGE for us and other teams in the state..... will keep kids at home or other SEC teams will ante up their funding? It can go either or other way. IMO This is why our governor is pushing for pay for play in this state because it can impact instate teams and universities across the board. He realizes this.

Belen has a ton of rich alumni who went on to UM.

First of all good. Give the players what THEY deserve and earned it.

Second of all this only impacts Miami if there’s a market for this, that simply didn’t want to get dirty and play the SEC bag game, s long as we suck on the field, I don’t think business will be voluntarily paying players for their likeness to help the local team. Now, if we can get it together on the coaching side and start winning we should be cooking, especially because the Heat and Dolphins are FAR from the top of their leagues.

Honestly if this program problem is ineptitude and lack of big money boosters, nobody should feel sorry for UM, go sit on the bottom of the Coastal and shut the fvck up about it.

It’s about **** time, the fact that this notion of amateurism has prevailed for so long in college athletics is a disgrace to the kids who put their all into the sport.

Also NCAA FOOTBALL 21 BABY WOOOOOO
Not saying the kids don't deserve some scratch, but they are still amateurs. The worst pro team would push Clemson's **** all over the field. It would be men against boys. When I gave up watching the pro's a number of years back, I sat down and watched a pro game two years after turning my back on the NFL. All I am gonna say is holy **** what a difference.

There won't be any UM uniforms involved. Players can sell their own likeness. They can't use UM's logos.

I’m wondering what’s to stop a guy like Trevor Lawrence from creating Trevorlawrence.com during recruiting, where he sells t-shirts with his face wearing a Clemson colored helmet and a Bama colored one

No school names or emblem, just the colors and post “What should I do?? at $20 a pop.

Is that just profiting from his likeness?

You will have boosters buying a hundred at a time.
GOOD!

The more we fade into oblivion the more this hurts us. Sponsors dont give a **** where your school is located, all they care about is name recognition and the only names the nation and casual fans know are the players on national TV every week and playing in the biggest games.

That said I don’t see this being unregulated capitalism. I’m sure the NCAA is going to put heavy restrictions on how players can earn their money. Because if not, and say they allow players to endorse local businesses, it’s absolutely all over for Miami. No way we compete with these hick towns that worship their football teams
