The Face Of Our Defense Next Year

I get that the position has evolved a lot to accommodate the increase in speed, but I think its a lack of football IQ and coaching at younger levels. There's too much teaching towards the old school fundamentals because youth FB is different than HS, HS is different than college, etc. The LB position is where those differences really show.

Look, I will not dog our current LB starters. They are giving this program all they got.

If the first level of defense is off, its going to show throughout the unit.

Our DT and DE play has been on and off, this in itself brings on a lot of extra mess for the LBs to get through.

Our old defensive makeup was gritty, fast, and violent.

You see flashes from our guys currently but you can also see our lack of defensive speed. RBs and QBs were never able to turn the corner on us.

Sam just jumped out on tape because it was something I haven't seen in awhile.

If Shaq ain’t blitzing you would forget that he was on the team, also any power running offense and ALL our LBs get washed away like they’re surfin’ in a fuqin’ Tsunami. BCC MLB had more of an impact the game than Shaq...I don’t know WTF you were watching

I agree to certain point of view brother but there have been times last year as well where we all expect more from them and they was MIA while wearing/repping the colors of MIA!

If they don't shape up fast a very good QB is gonna rep apart our young PUPS- secondary.

That was just for one game, Shaq & Pinckney are 2nd & 3rd overall on the season in tackles for the team.

Brooks had a nice showing coming in with the 2nd team & made plays as soon as he got in the game.

He deserves more snaps as the season progresses, he showed natural instincts, good tackling & great speed.

Baker needs to get him as much experience as possible this season so he can hit the ground running next year as the starting Mike LB & will be the leader of the new LB corps.

Young bull has the goods metaphorically and directly speaking. Ha Ha lol

Check it why are we not attempting to redshirt McCloud? I know you and I spoke of this idea and Coach re-irritated today that he is not doing that. Big Mistake IMO... unless He's doesn't want to then we have no choice not to.
 
When he was lined up next to the kicker on kick coverage I was like who the **** is that monster?? Forgot he was number #6 lol
He already looks like a grown man out there..
 
To be fair, 95% of fans thought three years ago that 55,56,53 were going to be downright scary by now. How about we just wait and see what happens instead of crowning players based on a few plays vs Bethune Cookman.
 
I think McCloud should redshirt with Huff & Brooks. Its McCloud's only shot at real playing time barring injury. Huff & Brooks need to get themselves as close to 230 as possible to hit the ground running next year.

McCloud redshirting won’t help him next year either...Patrick Joyner is taking all of his snaps. Him and Sam Brooks are going to have players limping off the field left and right.

This ain't 1986-2002 offenses are totally different these days and most game plans involve taking advantage of defensive players weaknesses from formations to personnel. Plus the rules cater to offense these days, It's a lot harder to play defense in todays' football era

If the team does get to ACCC, I think he’s one of the few ways they contain Etienne

McCloud has been a NON factor for 3 yrs.. what would a 5th do?

Lol if you think the linebackers in the 80s would even be able to play on this defense let along be elite in it I don’t know what to tell you.

Shaq and Pinckney would dominate if all they had to do is play 1 gap assignment and chase after the football every down.
