Guys just aren’t forced to stay somewhere anymore. It’s no different than a job. If your job sucks, you’re allowed to quit and work somewhere else. That doesn’t mean you’re guaranteed to get a better job but at least you have the opportunity. People acting like you should just stay at a dead end job forever because trying to improve your situation is “quitting”

People quit for two reasons: cash and creative. Either you have NIL money to bank in somewhere else, or "creative" in this situation = PT.

It’s all about opportunity. The opportunity to make money, the opportunity to play more or both. The idea that a player should be forced to stay somewhere he has no opportunities is stupid. If you’ve been at a school for a couple of years and you’re not getting playing time, sticking around isn’t going to help you. Especially since the coaches are already actively trying to replace you. Sometimes you have to realize that for whatever reason, this isn’t the place for you and move on. Maybe you’re not as good as the guys ahead of you. Maybe you’re being asked to do things you didn’t sign up for. Maybe you signed to play for coach X and he’s not there anymore.

I’m looking at most of the Miami players who entered the portal and I’m seeing a bunch of guys who were either not playing or playing very little. And guys who would be better off in a different system. Besides Darrell Jackson, I’m not seeing a single player who would be better served returning to the team next year. I’m not seeing anyone who would improve their situation by just sticking it out.

Jackson is a big loss. On the entire roster who else would even be a big loss?
Kicker, Van Dyke, Restrepo, Young, Arroyo (see how the rehab goes), Rivers, Clark, Harvey, Taylor, Kinchens, Bissainthe, Cooper... anyone else?

CB's are bad, other S's are bad, other LB's are bad, DT's are all gone, DE/Edge guys are Harvey and?
OL mostly bad, RB's injured or gone or slow, QB's all sucked but Van Dyke has more potential, TE's left are ?'s, WR's? Bad.

ok boomer. by that logic then you dont want any kid who wants to transfer to Miami since they "quit" on their former team. Or **** you dont want Mario as coach bc he "quit" on Oregon in the middle of his contract after a successful season to come take over Miami.
Far from a boomer. Just a person who has faced adversity in life and doesn't run from it.

I get why kids transfer and it's fine. I certainly don't want to be stuck with Manny diaz players.

But a lot of kids today have a soft me first attitude.

Totally agree, but I will say that, a dead-end job is better than no job. A lot of these transfers are about to be unemployed.

Era of quitters if you ask me.

There's truth in what all of you are saying. None of this is mutually exclusive.

It is a bit different from a job, in that you can talk with other companies about open positions while you're still employed, without affecting your employment. The vast majority of people wouldn't quit unless they had a landing spot set up.
