The Evolution of Marquise Lightfoot's Game

This would have been a great thread to follow from his freshman year.
 
He's been wrecking Havoc all season long. Hope he continues to progress and trend at the rate he currently is.

He can lead this DE group to being the best in the nation.
 
If you think Lightfoot is developing nice - imagine this kid next year as a senior. I dont think he has high enough draft grade, and needs to fill out more and another year will do just that. I think him and Blount are lock to return for Senior years

I've been saying pound for pound he vastly overperforms as a Run defender and is stronger than his under mass would lead you to believe. In fact I was saying if Damon Wilson showed as much strength against the Run as Lightfoot (and the extra 10-15lbs or whatever he has on him) I'd have basically no question about the Dline (except for just Depth without Lowe at SDE). But still want to see if he will get overwhelmed due to sheer mass in short yardage…Then again you'd think Blount and Davis would be on more and he'd be against TEs in that scenario...

I still think he returns and if he can add a further 10lbs it’d be ideal…
 
Elite player and brings the swagger we had as a defense last year. Need his violence and motor to be the benchmark for all 11
 
Nobody talks about how he beat wilson out for the starting job. He’s been our best player on defense so far

As the season is going him and all of the dline are heating up. If we get him/blount/wilson/scott/moten/carter all peaking at once everyone is in trouble
 
Lightfoot is coming into his own. Don’t think we get him back but on the plus side that probably means we get Blount back .

This defensive front will be as good or better than 2025 by the end of the regular season. We have ballers all along it. JT stringing together back to back R1 picks IMO.

He would play the role Tampa is asking Bain to play WAY better.
 
He has shown some great flashes this year. I want to see some dominant performances against the meat of our schedule before I jump in on this DL being as good as last year but we have better depth overall I believe. I want to see how they play against the Clemson Oline. Which isn’t elite but will likely be the biggest test thus far this season (Wake potentially as good?)!
