Although a 5*, there were some questions/concerns about Lightfoot's ability to gain weight and become an every down DE. He was an understudy to Bain & Messidor and pass rush specialist last year and the opportunity is there for him to be a star this year. Will Lightfoot reach his potential? Creating a thread to monitor his development.

I’d say the answer on that is yes!

Playing very good to start the season. Shout out to the staff he’s gotten better every season with Heatherman and Jason Taylor

There was a ton of worry all offseason about "setting the Edge!", Lightfoot has done nothing but do a phenomenal job in maintaining gap integrity & discipline, while being an absolute FORCE in the run game.

In addition to being the best pass rusher on the DLine, with his Hyena motor to attack relentlessly all game long.

He's more than stepped up & lived up to his potential, he's far exceeded expectations & will solidify himself as one of the top 5 best DE's in CFB as the season progresses.

What's best about him is he's barely just scratching the surface. I believe he'll actually play his best ball in the league once he gets drafted. Due to his versatility as a Edge rusher, he'll be able to get drafted to teams who run a 3-4 scheme & transition seamlessly to being an OLB-Jack rusher.
