The Duke Dilema

on fs1 today jon gruden and david portnoy and everyone on their show said acc shouldnt have a team in the playoffs this year. said it could happen as long as the g5 is ranked higher...even spoke on duke.

they planting the seeds cause im sure espn propoganda will do so as well.....im almost hoping it happens because the acc and their refs have f*cked miami all to much for tobacco road teams...now they can see no one gives a f*ck about your tobacco road sh*t outside of basketball.

then the acc plays the b*tch role to notre dame...have them in every sport except football. ovid was perfect to tell them sh*t or get off the pot we arent scheduling games with yall eat a d*ck...but nooooo. then nd turns around and sign deals with sec, and other conferencer for multiple games for years.

this is why is aid i dont care about us being in a conference we should go indy for awhile....Notre dame is almost a shoe in for the playoffs yearly with their set up and they no they can lose early games and still be in the running playing mid an sh*t the rest of the year outside of their big games.

acc problem is always arount october the whole conference canibalizes each other...and the conference doesnt have the cache of having fraud pre szn rankings to make up for these losses and espn media to push up rankings after losses for viewerships in slavebelt states lol
Going independent would be a death sentence. No major broadcast company would sign Miami to a tv deal that was worth a ****. So your revenue would plummet. The ACC wouldn’t sign Miami to a 6 game every year deal like ND and with everyone going to 9 game conf schedules, you’d be playing an Oregon St type G5 schedule. You’d have to go undefeated to make the CFP.

Good looking; I misread the new rules.

“The new policy will guarantee the five highest-ranked conference champions a place in the Playoff, but will no longer include a bye for the four highest-ranked champions. The 12-team bracket will now be seeded directly based on the final ranking of the CFP Selection Committee, with the four highest-ranked teams receiving a first-round bye. If one or more of the five highest-ranked conference champions are ranked outside the top 12, that team or teams would move up to the 12th seed, 11th seed, etc., based on the number of conference champions outside the top 12.”

Which means, to ur point, an undefeated ND or possibly a 1 loss ND team can be voted as the #1 seed in the CFP final 12. This almost means, ND really have no reason to join a conference, as an aside. They r really getting the best of both worlds.

These models suck. The subjective nonsense flew when they played under the guise of amateurism. Now that they are professionals I can't help but to hate these rigged set ups. CFB needs a real playoff system, like every other professional league.

They can extend their palms and beg for NIL, but I don't see how average die hards (continue to) contribute to a system that is biased, at best.

Let's see how things shake out.

Duke winning the ACCCG with 5 losses, might be the best case scenario for Miami. Cant imagine the Committee wouldnt pick a 10-2 Miami team if we manage to win out. Would just need GT to lose another game, which they will.
Duke will not make the ACC-CCG if they lose another game. GT has one ACC loss and already beat Duke. GT has BC and Pitt; Duke has UVA, UNC and WK left.

Duke is 5-4 (4-1)
GT is 8-1 (5-1)

It's insane that a team from one of the 2 "top conferences" can go 2 years and only play 2 teams that are ranked by the end of the season. That's some ACCC s*** if I've ever seen it.

2024
UCLA 5-7
Maryland 4-8
NW 4-8
Nebraska 7-6
Washington 6-7
Michigan 8-5
Mich St 5-7
Ohio St 14-2
Purdue 1-11

2025
Illinois 6-3
Iowa 6-3
Oregon 8-1
Mich St 3-6
UCLA 3-6
Maryland 4-5
Penn State 3-6
Wisconsin 3-6
Purdue 2-8

12 games against against sub-500 BIG10 teams and OOC of Old Dominion, Kennesaw State, Indiana State, FIU, Western Illinois, and Charlotte. That's 18 games in two years against absolutely dog s*** opponents.

Last time I checked, James Madison and USF are both ranked right now. So if Duke were to hypothetically win the ACC (highly doubt they do), then the acc isn’t necessarily guaranteed a spot. Duke lost to UConn and Tulane, so they wouldn’t get in. The last 5 sports could go to ND, 3rd ranked SEC, 3rd ranked b10 team, 2nd ranked big 12 team, and maybe a sec team (Vandy, OU, or Texas). I think this scenario would actually be helpful to us, because I think we could get that last spot. However, I just don’t trust this committee
This….USF/North Texas/Tulane at 11-2/12-1(NT is 8-1 rn) and JMU at 11-2 are getting in over a 9-4 Duke team.

All that said, I doubt Duke wins out and I doubt the ACC gets zero teams in. OP is incorrect because a 5 loss Duke team isn’t a lock for anything.

I expect the ACC to end up with two teams including Miami. We have victories over our mutual opponents with USC, Alabama, and Texas; also beat ND. Going to be too tough to makeup rationales as to why Miami shouldn’t be in if we take care of business.

Miami Rules

1: Don’t expect sympathy or rationality from the media or any committee when it comes to Miami.

2: Do not expect the referees to save you. Yes we will get calls in our favor. But when conference titles or playoff berths are on the line, no soup for you!!!! Every referee knows what it will take in order for Miami to get to the playoffs. They will facilitate an easier path for everyone else by default. Certain teams are gonna get a lot of zebra help.
This has been a historical fact dating back to the JJ days and he even said it. “Never leave it on the hands of the refs”.

3: To steal a Maya Angelou quote “when this team shows you who they really are, believe them the first time”.
Post 2002 this team has **** the bed more than an Ebola patient with cholera.whenever we needed it the most.

4: The only people that had full control of making it to the playoffs were th players and coaches. In all of Miami hurricane history, there has never been a scenario where a committee or a referee gave us a chance.
As a matter, even when we did everything right we still had to split a title with the huskies.
