The Brett Romberg Show

Just listened to it. Romberg was saying that they can't go "help" because of NCAA rules and they can't be coaches either because there is a limit on how many you can have on a team, per NCAA. Which is pretty frightening, because that tells me that somehow Miami hasn't figured out how to do the Bama approach and hire coaches as "analysts" yet? No wonder we suck so bad.

Aside from that...….they probably show up for a few days but they have every ******* answer. Its the same thing as when they come on twitter saying they want to be the coaches. When everyone with a brain knows none of them would commit to the hours it takes nor do have they coached anywhere before. Its all really counter productive and ridiculous.

Did you actually listen? He literally explains exactly what happens.

Not a fan of this at all. I hate butch Barry and think he’s incompetent based on what I see. But if you get invited in to help don’t go on the air waiving dirty laundry.

This is exactly why coaches don’t want certain former players coming around. Bad form IMO.
Then they cry about having no access. I’m all for them burying all the coaches as publicly and brutally as possible, but don’t cry when the guys you shred don’t want you around.

If they dont want former champions exposing the dirty laundry, then coach well, start the right kids in the right positions, demand perfection and get better each game.

Got kids joking around and not giving a **** when a hall of Famer comes to teach you. Are you serious?

I wouldn't say the OL wasn't an issue. They still suck at recognizing blitzes, at passing off defenders and in getting off the ball.

And lets not forget that at least a half dozen times a game we have lineman blocking each other or standing around with thumbs in rear.
Some of that is youth and inexperience. Still, it sounds like Brett and Bryant make some legitimate points. A good OL coach would find a way to address the legitimate criticisms.

McKinnie's last stellar play was in college in 2001. He was much less than a hall-of-famer in the pros. Weakens his credibility somewhat. His criticisms may or may not be valid.

Facts. Why hasnt Kehoe, Romberg etc. been retained as analysts for this OL? I'm not saying we need to even retain former HCs like Texas and Bama do.

the OC is where i have issues with. i can trust manny to axe the DC and fix the D next year. his gameday coaching is another story (as an HC not DC). i dont trust the OC to change his staff (OL Coach is his choice and needs to go) and scheme. on top of that, his red zone play calling is beyond dumb. were ****ed if we dont get rid of at least enos. get rid of him, keep field and hickson (only two recruiters on staff and RB coach isnt a hard position to coach you just need a recruiter there). the rest can go elsewhere.
Hickson, Field and Rumph. Those are the only coaches on the entire on field staff Manny should even think about retaining. Everyone else can dip with Enos being the first shown the door. When he said “spread coast” I thought it would be a more pro style version of what Urban runs. No, this is a full blown pro style offense. The type of offense u need an above average oline for in order to be a Top 25 ranked offense. He can take that bs O and go to Michigan St. it’s not going to work at The U

Romberg does solid with bringing in guests and stories/insight to the program.

He doesn’t build his credibility by saying:

1. An NFL scouting director told him that he visited Miami, FIU, and FAU and saw no difference in talent. Because if that’s the case, then no one should be complaining about manny not winning the coastal with conference USA level talent. Lol I didn’t know FIU had players comparable to Gregg Rousseau, Brevin Jordan, or...90% of our roster.

2. On this podcast he agreed that Manny’s a good recruiter and Jimbo Fischer wasn’t, which is sone reason why Taggert is struggling.

He blames the players a lot more than the coaches. Saying that being in the building, Richt didn’t leave him a lot of winners. The kids are not emotionally invested in the program, and care about getting to the league, but not about winning.

The thing is, our O-line is dog **** trash right, BUT you guys are here blaming butch barry. He just got here.

He's not hellen keller, they signed 2 project OL guys in this class, and the rest of the group has been there from the previous regime. Its clear that those kids left are ***** if we are starting an 18 yr old project, as the only guy in the room who has enough nuts to play LT. Could he ask BM and Roms for help on technique, well as you ******* hear in the podcast, HE CANT. It's against the rules.

The players can! Why have they not? It is a good question. Probably because they are embarrassed and intimidated. Bryant is a future HOF inductee, and this generation is snowflake so you know they wont take the kind of attitude required to be great.

I am not being a coach Barry apologist, but as I work for a sporting team, you see how much more important the jimmy's and joes are to the success of the org, rather than a singular manager figure. You gotta put some of this on the players.

Myself and a few others here have ears in hecht, on the football team, and trust us, Bryant's assessment is echoed.

It’s the mentality that really irks. We’ve lost our identity (and it’s been a shell of itself since after Butch’s boys left).
Now ain't THAT something? Look how many claim to want a return to that level of play yet dump on the man who got us there. That's how you know how many impostors we have around here. These same guys will sing the praises of Butch's players and what they accomplished in one breath and then curse the guys who coached them up in the next, it's pathetic. Whining "oh he's a liar", "oh he left us" and so on knowing dam well he wasn't being paid what he was worth and how the administration tried to shaft him. Can Butch do it again? I certainly think so. But, we'll never know if he doesn't get a shot. Could he do any worse than what we've seen the last umpteenth years? I seriously doubt it.

They pretty much called out zalonte Hillary. Said he was joking around the whole time when they were watching film.

From the 3 times I’ve heard him, Romberg comes off as a **** stirrer. He’s trying to be a personality on the radio by stirring **** and saying outrageous dumb crap. I wouldn’t pay any attention to what he says.

Some of our dopey jock sniffing fans act like our former players walk on water and should coach and administer everything related to UM. They can’t accept that they’re just guys with opinions like everyone else, and, most of the time, I’ve found their opinions pretty odd. And it’s apparent most of them don’t follow college football all that closely. They’re just glory years guys who think they ate glass and never had games where they didn’t show up.

They always forget all the times they quit or totally flopped like the Syracuse 66-3 game where some of them were eating hotdogs and laughing on the sidelines while McNabb was gutting us. Or the disgraceful ECU flops. Or even the Ohio Taint Fiasco Bowl where they thought they’d walk over them and wound up getting badly bullied. How about the BC debacle where we needed a miracle to beat a horrible team with the best talent ever assembled?

i wonder if thats what he told manny and manny thought he was getting a spread coast, as well. the quotes from the spring made it seem like we were getting that until they started camp and now we have the fraud coast

I have no problem with the rants about kids goofing off. Kids need to take this seriously and they aren't. They rather see who likes their page and pay themselves on the back because they barely bear cmu. Oline needs to tight and pull for one another. Since they think all they can do is put the helmet on and will walk over people.

1. Actually it's true, and the faster Cane fans stop overrating this roster the better. Other than Brevin (who's not a first day pick) And 15, the talent level is very comparable to FIU FAU, **** even GT on defense. GT had as much talent on defense as we did.
The rest of the roster is low round free agent type pick ups that don't end up on NFL rosters. Not even practice sqauds. Look at last years sr class, and the year before that. This years is worse. We have practice squad level talent on majority of roster. Why do you think we were Portal U this summer, because we were stacked? I think not.

Cornerback Mike Jackson, by Dallas, which was surprising because it’s somewhat uncommon to see a team cut a fifth-rounder four months after drafting him. Rookie defensive end Joe Jackson made the Cowboys 53-man roster.
▪ Cornerback Jhavonte Dean, by Pittsburgh.
▪ Offensive lineman KC McDermott, by Jacksonville.
▪ Rookie defensive tackle Tito Odenigbo, by Minnesota.
▪ Cornerback Corn Elder, by Carolina.
▪ Former UM and Texas safety Adrian Colbert, by San Francisco. Colbert just got released from Seattle practice squad.
St louis got released from practice squad. Gerald Willis can't even get on roster.

the kids are way diff than butchs kids. this isnt close to the same era anymore. can butch soothe egos? he wont be getting underrecruited kids anymore. kids are all over tv from 9th grade on and are pseudo celebs by the time they graduate.

i will say that we dont have a huge talent advantage that we did in years past, but we have better talent than how were playing. ivies said it pre UNC that we dont have a talent advantage anymore to the rest of the coastal.
