I'll go one further, and for the record this never made sense to me, but every year, 247 ranks 32 kids as 5-stars. They say they do it to mimic the NFL draft, as their Top 32 (aka the 5-stars) are the "first round". To me, you grade every kid. One year there might be 50 5-stars, another year there might be 25. But again, this is how they do it. The top 32 get 5-stars, then the 4-stars start at 33.

This year, in the Top 32, aka the first-round, 247 has three Wide Receivers. Keys, Morgan, and Russell.

In 2025, they had four.
In 2024, they had seven.

So of the last few classes, it's the most "down" year IN THE EYES OF 247.

If this really was the NFL draft, the "experts" would be saying it's a light WR draft. Much like QB in 2025. I think all the Draftnik's would tell you, Cam would not have been the #1 pick if he were in the 2024 draft. And I think only 2 QBs went in the whole first round in 2025? Whereas six went in the first 12 picks in 2024.

You are comparing preseason rankings to post season rankings while trying to prove a point. Highly stupid, but understandable.

No reason at all to concede a Top 5 class at this point.

I put some rather conservative picks into the calculator, and got to 270. That's just a couple kids away from a Top 5 class. Cooper, swapping Mallory for Lamar, Evans, JJ Edwards, James Johnson, Israel Briggs, Kolojay, and Jasen Lopez. I think we feel pretty good about all of those, and the class clearly will not end right there. That's only a total of 20 kids. And 270 would be good for about 10th-ish.

I still think the class pushes towards 300 and when the dust settles, it'll be the highest rated class Mario has had here.

Locking in Lopez for me seals the Spafford deal.. local kid who might not have the top end speed of spafford but another Restrepo type dog you gotta have to get the dirty work done.

Really would hope we see some more commitments after these visits and put the pressure on the Keys and Browns of the class

Not to mention that Lopez is a lot and I mean a lot faster than Restrepo.

Looking at Restrepo junior film, he almost doesn’t look like a take. Lopez made a ton more plays. Restrepo is stronger, but Lopez is shiftier. Way more plays with the ball thrown downfield.

My point of contention is about the claim that this recruiting class prospect pool is a "down year" for WR, just because 247 or (On3) says so.

I don't agree with that.

What do they base their rankings on?

If that question can be answered then that settles the dispute.

@DMoney I get the staff has to play the long game with some of the kids, just have PTSD from last year with some of the kids that they tried to sway throughout the recruiting process that ultimately went in favor of other programs.

I'm sure they do. So does literally any/every service, scout, etc in the world. The dudes who are actually paid handsomely to do it in the NFL, it's a crapshoot.

I'm not even saying I agree with the "down year" stuff, I'm simply providing data on what D is hearing and what we can all see in how they have these kids ranked. In the eyes of 247, it's a slightly weaker year for WRs nationally than it normally is. We'll have to wait a few years to see if that actually holds any weight. Regardless, Miami needs to sign several kids at that position who develop into good players. We need to hit on a good WR class this cycle.

You can be short and not small (like X…pause)

Lopez is short and small and we’ve seen this story about a billion times. They get bullied when they step up competition. How many more 4 star-ish WRs we gotta bring in here with the same skill set that flame out?

Plus I don’t like how he spells his first name
