If want to be the best, you hire the best, and you weaken your competition. There is a reason companies like Meta and Google will hire the best people away from smaller companies and pay them to sit on their thumbs. They expect eventually they will get the ROI back, in the meantime they drain the competitor.
Miami should go after Brian Fartline. He gets his name back when he is our WR coach. He should also be the OC in waiting- Dawson will be leaving to be a HC at some point. Yes Fartline is loyal to OSU but everyone has a price. Do we know if Fartline can draw up plays? No. It doesn’t really matter though if you have the best OL in cfb, a top QB, a top RB, and a generational WR like Jeremiah Smith.
I am sure Beard is a nice guy and a good WR coach like most of his predecessors. He gets quality WRs- he’s been better than others but I don’t think he is capable of getting the top WR in the country in any year, even if we have the most $$$ on the table. Takes a little more to get the very best of the best. We haven’t had a monster recruiter at WR in who knows how long and it’s not a position where Cristobal can pick up the slack.
Thank for that post and the willingness to type such a long and logical response to this thread.Spaddies and Lopez are great gets, if Mario can land their commitments. Evans’ film did not impress me at all.
Beard has shown that he can develop talent, and he’s recruited really well up to this point. Jojo, Carr, Toney, Upshaw, Moore, etc. are all very talented young WR that I expect to be impact players, if not stars as they develop.
Give Mario time to work his magic. There might yet be a surprise at WR, but as @Brooklyndee previously stated, development is the most important part. Nobody thought that Restrepo, George and Horton would be impact players, and all 3 of them were. Restrepo wasn’t drafted due to his poor 40-yard dash time, which was compounded by the fact that he had a hamstring injury. All of the reports coming out of TN Titans camp is that he’s killing it.
A lot of the board called AR15 slow when he committed to us and said that he ran a 4.5 40. Then the majority of the board called X a jag and majorly disrespected him as a FR. Most on this board were claiming that Ray Ray Joseph was gonna take his spot as a FR. Joseph still hasn’t done crap and looks like the real jag. Most of this board loved Pope just because he was a 5-Star, and I never saw it.
As @IndayArtHauz once stated, I’m glad that I don’t know most you in real life.
I think being drafted is part of the equation. However, I think the QB thing is over blown....Is Calvin gonna play basketball at lsu?
Also our top receiver just went undrafted. That’s a factor for these kids man.
The portal qb is a factor. Nickel and Coleman do absolutely nothing for these kids. No clout
Evans spafford Lopez is a really solid receiver class in a vacuum. The issue is we didn’t land the local five star……again
I’m not disagreeing with that. But we are coming off the number one offense last season and an elite passing attack. That wasn't the point of my response. Beard has still gotten blue chippers at his time here. But when you're going up against OSU, LSU and Bama for 5- star WRs, they obviously have a better pitch. When our NFL production catches up, our recruiting will not only become stronger, but it will be easier.
It's obviously not the only factor these kids look for. But when LSU can point to Thomas, Nabers, Jefferson and Chase, it makes things a lot easier for them
Idk about attractive, but Michael Van Buren is likely next man up.I think being drafted is part of the equation. However, I think the QB thing is over blown....
Who is playing QB for LSU next year that is so attractive?

Related to Martin?Idk about attractive, but Michael Van Buren is likely next man up.
I’m in now way shape or form defending Beard. He obviously can’t out pitch LSU on NFL production and development, which is one reason why they have the advantage. The one area he can pitch is our passing attack/system, which he can’t seem to do. To me it’s simple, all Beard has to say is “We just had the number one offense with the body types of George, X, and Brown; Imagine what we can do with you in our offense.” He’s either not saying that, or recruits aren’t buying into that. Mario should either get Beard some help, or find someone to replace himI’m not disagreeing with that. But we are coming off the number one offense last season and an elite passing attack.
He’s also struggled landing the top guys in the portal as well. I don’t believe Beard is a bad recruiter. The question is, do we believe he can land guys against the big boys.
Based on Mario’s approach to coach’s performance in recruiting, I’d wager Beard probably moves on this after this season.
Let’s just stop bringing up Jeremiah Smith and Brian HartlineIf want to be the best, you hire the best, and you weaken your competition. Does that mean he's participating in Prospects Camp?Seems like latest is that he will per Gaby.
But with things a bit up in the air following a decommitment from Auburn, Baton Rouge (La.) Central Top247 linebacker JaMichael Garrett is expected to work out for the Hurricanes on Wednesday evening.
Garrett, who was originally on Miami's official visit schedule last weekend, plans to camp for the Hurricanes for an opportunity to join this coming weekend's group. That could also mean a spot in Miami's top ten ranked recruiting class.
That would be great, because pretty sure he doesn't look sloppy either...just to throw this out there....Simpson aint been 280 in a long time. That kid is closer to 310-315....AND THATS WHEN I SAW HIM IN SZN LAST YEAR
needs to get replaced next off season periodWatching yall fold on KB like something has changed in the last 4 months is wild. Where was this at before?
