We won't be truly playing with the big boys until we can prove we can land 5 star QBs, WRs and DBs.

2 of 3 is true. Don’t need 5 star QB HS recruits. I believe the far better value is transfers because you can see how they perform at the college level. And it is not uncommon for elite QBs to switch teams. But yes on WRs and DBs. They tend to stay at the same school until they get drafted. Also DTs. I think this is the make or break position on defense.

People keep saying this but the most elite schools like Oregon, Georgia, Ohio State, and Bama keep signing 5 star freshman QBs along with taking elite portal QBs.

Waiting to see if Garrett actually shows up tomorrow. It certainly feels like he won't.

Doesn’t matter. If you mean acting like the other schools act then yes. I am talking about what you need to win a championship. You can do without a 5 star HS QB recruit. A high potential 4 star like Coleman is far less expensive but gives almost much buzz for HS WRs.

Seems like latest is that he will per Gaby.

But with things a bit up in the air following a decommitment from Auburn, Baton Rouge (La.) Central Top247 linebacker JaMichael Garrett is expected to work out for the Hurricanes on Wednesday evening.

Garrett, who was originally on Miami's official visit schedule last weekend, plans to camp for the Hurricanes for an opportunity to join this coming weekend's group. That could also mean a spot in Miami's top ten ranked recruiting class.

Yea I hate, cause Beard has been a good on field coach. But he’s left quite a bit to be desired in recruiting. I wouldn’t call him dead weight but there’s just too many misses on blue chippers.
Or it could be that KJ Osborn is our best NFL WR right now, which is why blue chip WR's are sometimes hesitant to come here

Don’t matter who the wr coach is Russell still ain’t coming. Dude said months ago I don’t want to stay home for school. Then He was like oh I ain’t been a Miami fan I’m a while. Everytime you turn around it’s Miami has work to do with him. Look at his interview with 247 after the ov. Dude doesn’t want to be here

The bank rolled out some after hours work last night! Go @DMoney

Wish I followed more high school ball, watching hudl highlights and game film are just different.

Will rely on you guys

Unless Tamarion is planning a shock the world commitment he's headed to USC unfortunately.

Big time red flags with the high school jumping around he's done. Glad to the staff is doing their own due diligence on the kid. He's talented but that kind of movement in high school almost always is a sign of an incoming bust.

Hasn’t everyone said, let the coaches coach and Mario will handle the recruiting. Seems I’ve seen that on here a lot.
Position coaches have to be able to recruit too though. Having a good recruiter at HC gets you deep into these recruitments, but the position coach is important.

I don’t personally hold the belief Mario will or should land anyone he wants, outside the OL.

By that logic, we shouldn’t get any blue chippers at any position.
That wasn't the point of my response. Beard has still gotten blue chippers at his time here. But when you're going up against OSU, LSU and Bama for 5- star WRs, they obviously have a better pitch. When our NFL production catches up, our recruiting will not only become stronger, but it will be easier.
It's obviously not the only factor these kids look for. But when LSU can point to Thomas, Nabers, Jefferson and Chase, it makes things a lot easier for them
