Exactly need to stack talent and let them make each other better. Let's load this roster up don't want to miss opportunity to make a run because of the promise of a true freshman. They said the same about the DB room last year how it was gonna be alright because of freshman and look what happened

They better get everyone they need in this portal, I don’t wanna hear ANY excuses about any room being a liability in the fall

Carson Beck also deserves all the talent around him the way Cam Ward was afforded

I mean our depth chart is Jojo, Cj Daniels and a bunch of true freshman. Let someone get a nagging injury them we're in serious trouble there. We can bring in 2 portal WRs and malachi would still play quite a bit being in the top 5 WR rotation. I don't understand what's the issue with that. We got Carson Beck to make a run

This is the right move, we need an outside receiver with speed, we will be fine at the slot
 
None of us know how much money we have to spend. Will he(Pena) help us of course. But, he is going to be very expensive. If we had unlimited money of course he's a take. But he is not a perfect fit and we have other needs as well. Just like an NFL salary cap it all depends on the cost.

this. And jojo already got hurt last year. We are one toney hammy away from ray ray being the starting slot in an offense predicated around that position. If you're okay with that cool but im not.

That's exactly right too much on the line to go into the season being that thin at the WR position anything can happen like you said. With Carr gone we gonna have to bring in 2 guys

I think the gameplan is actually for Trader to line up in the slot closer to 50-75% of the time for the exact reason you gave, which is why they are prioritizing adding outside WR. Sure they are confident in Toney as well, but I think that is more like they expect Toney to earn say 20% of the slot work, and Trader (and even Daniels) will fill the majority of it. I said this in another post, but really, Only like Moore and I guess Chance are like PURE Outside WRs. The rest can all play in the slot. Ray Ray specifically is like only a slot WR though. Maybe Toney too, but he can probably move around a lot more than Restrepo did and Ray Ray can. And it should be no shock if Dawson wants Trader in the slot a lot given his offensive design like you said... many top outside WRs line up a lot in the slot - especially in college - It's really not crazy... Also Really wouldn't be surprised to see Lofton in the Slot with another TE inline often as well... It really makes sense to me WHY they are prioritizing Outside WR for portal addition. HOWEVER We better make sure we get someone really good if we are going to pass on Pena who is already a high floor known commodity in the Slot and would be a 1for1 replacement of Restrepo basically...

Like when we are in 11:
X WR: Portal WR1 Type / Moore / Chance
Z WR: Daniels / Portal WR4-5 Type / Upshaw / Fitzgerald (imo Fitzgerald should immediately move to WR given loss of Carr)
Slot WR: Trader / Toney / Ray Ray

When we're in 12:
X WR: Trader or Portal WR1 Type / Moore / Chance
Z WR: Daniels or Portal WR1 Type / Portal WR4-5 Type / Toney / Upshaw or Fitzgerald

Lack of depth at WR and DT is ridiculous.
