The "Bag Men" Are Real...

Urban Meyer went undefeated his first season at Ohio State. You really think OSU wasn't getting any recruits?

Do bag men exist? Yes. Does Miami have to publicly discourage them due to being on probation and hated? Of course. So what is the point of the thread?

And how do you think that Taint was getting top recruits? They were paying top dollar. Urban Cryer is one of the dirtiest coaches in football, just like the midget, he will do whatever it takes to win. Even if that means covering up for murderers/thieves/rapists, etc.. He's proved his mettle time and again. No measly crime is too big to keep him from winning the 'ship.

I dont know how you think Urban Meyer recruited an entire team 6 months into his OSU career.

I had been telling you guys about a kid I used to coach in HS that is now at Tennessee. He always said he had a feeling shady stuff was going on but they were very quiet about it. Some guys live in the dorms, don't own cars or don't own nice cars, and always eat at school. Then there's others that act shady, drive new sports cars, live off campus in the nice housing, always have cash, eat out, etc but never speak about where it comes from.

Just saw him the other day, he's a senior now, drives a brand new Challenger (his family has money but not for what he's driving) and I heard he now lives with Cam Sutton and a few others that he used to say were in that "shady" category. He's a projected started at nickel for them now, so the bag man probably felt he owed him for his last year if he's going to start now.

It's very real.

Yes...the sky IS blue...water IS wet...I agree 100%.

I started this thread for the trolls/porsters that claim that there is no payola going on. That simply winning will be the cure all.

They are the same people who believe the politicians of their choice tell the truth and only those other one lie. Wait, I think Hilary destroyed that. Now we all know both lie but we vote for them anyway. Crap, there is no excuse to think there are no bagmen.
The people that vote for them lie. Good people do bad things, bad people do good things. Why do people feel the need to feel extreme about everything?

we will play 'the game' too, there is no other choice in this era of cfb if yu really wanna compete

If we were "playing the game", guys like Jeudy would be locks to come here. Think about it, get paid to stay home in the comforts of your own city, play in front of your family/friends, or get paid to go live in the slum that is Tuscaloosa for 4 years. We're definitely not "playing the game", if we were, the choice would be a simple one for him.
Not true we just cant afford to play at the level Alabama and others play at. Do you think Shapiro is the only rich guy in Miami that loves the U? Don't be silly. Just in Tuscaloosa that is everyone's cash machine. They are invested in that school and way of life. Just how it is. Way different life in Miami or south Florida at that.

Do you really think that anyone at the U would risk getting nailed by the NCAA so soon after almost getting hammered by them just recently. You must be trolling. If there is a program that has to tread very carefully right now it's us. Those dirtbags are looking for the smallest thing to come down with the hammer on us.

Doesn't mean we haven't played the game in the past. We obviously have. But definitely not at the moment.
Thats not what a gator player told me and my friends in Gainesville. Just saying the coaches dont know everything. Obviously juwan young was getting some benefits from someone because he was a foottball player. That speaks for itself

There are no bag men. All we need to do is win.

When Saban came to Alabama, he came as a national championship coach. That carries a lot of weight with recruiting. Plus, his National Championship was recent. Therefore, recruits went to Alabama to play for National Championship winning coach.

Stop your whining. Be a man. All we need to do is win. When we win, we will have an easier time getting the top recruits.

OP...I agree with you except for Clemson. I know first hand about their recruiting process in recent years as I have a highly rated player who is family and was sought after by top schools but he chose Clemson because of Sweeny and his position coach. He gave Miami a good look but (because I thought he would be a great fit to a much needed position) just didn't buy into Folden's BS. Carry on...

We all know this.

And we all know of our players and recruits get benefits. Otherwise, they wouldn't even here.

How else would you explain the juwan young case?

Shh, don't bring up that player....it can't be true.

Since there are so many know it all's who know so and so who took money to go somewhere, you should all start a thread with all of your facts. Once it gets big enough, you should mail a bunch of investigative journalist....

Some players get some things free everywhere. Having said that, it's become ludicrous how many unsubstantiated attacks have been made in recruits lately.

Here's what most reasonable and unbiased people think right now when you compare us to the OSU's and Bama's of the world. Both have bona fide winners as coaches....living legends if you will. They both have immense fanbases, great stadiums, tradition, and all the bells and whistles you could ever want. They are in the hunt every year, dominating the competition. They send players to the pro's yearly.

Compare that to us, they should get who they want by and large. We have hope right now, but hope without results is meaningless. I believe we're non the right track, landing a bunch of quality recruits that could've gone anywhere. Rome wasn't built in a day, so give it some time. We're far better today this year than last year. I hope we're saying the same the next and so on.

Sure, bag men exist. They have always existed in football since there was lots of money to be made. It wasn't too long ago where our own players got paid based on a bounty system.

I would like to think that number is something to the tune of 10% of four star players and 20% of five star players. I could be a fool and it be a whole lot more than I projected, but that's my guess.

As long as their is tons of money to be made by schools, players and agents, there will always be guys trying to get an edge. Facts of life.

Thing is that bad people do bad things and then lie about them being bad. Some people are just bad people.

Everyone has bagmen but Miami, but somehow we are on probation for paying players.
