The Athletic: Sam Leavitt possibly to Miami or TTU

I wholeheartedly do not understand the deal with Bailey around here outside of this board.

He's a good college QB with inconsistent mechanics playing in a wide open offense. What I saw on Saturday should absolutely steer people away from him.
Whispers…he played with Jeremiah Smith and a lot of posters still think it is possible to reunite them in Miami…sssshhhhh

Bailey > JKS > Leavitt

Bailey would be cheaper than Leavitt too so we could reallocate funds to costly position of needs like DE, DT, OT.

"Bailey would be cheaper than Leavitt"

Honest question....what makes you say that?
What data are you basing that on?

This thread reminds me of the Emory, Reece, Tyler Van Dyke threads. We know QBs here.
We give them confidence and then we tear down their confidence

Yup - I've heard similar.

Feel like it'll come down to the investment Cal makes around him. Their OL is awful (I think he's been sacked almost 30 times). Pretty weak skill positions with their top guys being Seniors. Defense is another story, as they seem to get coached up, but weak in the trenches.

i keep a list of QBs i like with some stats of their surround cast, update it weekly.

this ^ is JKS as of Week 12 ending.

good for #4 in pressures behind Manning, Sellers and Utah St's QB
~ 15th or 16th in sacks
& #4th in drops behind Malik Washington, Joey Aguilar and Akron's QB.

Leavitt coming here would be good for us. Tremendous athletic ability, HOWEVER

don't take his OC with him.

I like Leavitt a lot, but he had a Lisfranc injury in October that required surgery the first week of November. That would put his initial six-month recovery up to about the first week of May. That would give him four more months to the start of the season to get to full recovery. He would definitely not be available for spring football, and I think he would still be pretty limited in summer camp. Lisfranc injury with surgery can take up to 12 months to return to full athletic activities. That would be a concern to me if we are banking on his full participation for the season. Would he be in sync with the receivers at the start of the season, even if he was fully recovered by then? The medical staff needs to be very thorough on this one.

JKS’ arm talent is top shelf elite. Whether or not he’ll leave Cal, no clue, and I personally always want a guy that can run a little bit, which he can’t.

But that dude’s ability to throw the football is as elite as elite traits get.
He's accurate, but I don't see much velocity on his balls.

He definitely still needs work but then again the kid is only like 19. So there is some upside

Lisfranc is a horrible injury to come back from. Lots can go wrong healing
