The Athletic: Sam Leavitt possibly to Miami or TTU

IDK man, giving me the option of Leavitt, Sellers, JKS, or Bailey?

Although he looked like dog**** vs us, give me Bailey.

These effing throws are just beautiful.

And let's be real: Miami has a top 3 defense in college football. Easily. Even without Scott.

Bailey is an underrated option. Looked bad this past weekend but he doesn’t have a lot of talent to work with. Would be cheaper too
It's not that he didn't have the talent. It's the defense he played against.

Bailey and maybe #4 may consider coming home 👀. Jk Bailey for the vibes is cool and u get 2 years

Exactly! Leavitt is very Ward-like in the pocket. He's extremely athletic, throws well outside the pocket, has great pocket awareness, and will absolutely level up his game behind a good OL. I also think he would be a perfect fit for Dawson's system.
Again, that's what makes it hard to compare. Would Bailey or Sellers do better also?

Why? Appears to be a mediocre passer ... comp % ranged from 45.5% to 69 averaging 60%. Heavy rushing yardage ... QBR is only 67. EW with some reps might do better passing.

He's a championship-level QB in the right system; battle-tested, highly athletic, and passes the ball well enough to manage the game on a stacked team.

That said, other than the physical traits we need strong leadership from the QB position.

JKS’ arm talent is top shelf elite. Whether or not he’ll leave Cal, no clue, and I personally always want a guy that can run a little bit, which he can’t.

But that dude’s ability to throw the football is as elite as elite traits get.
Agreed. Haven’t added him to the mix until it’s a legit option. I can only go by what other people say but it seems pretty unlikely he would leave

Then again I wouldn’t have believed Beck would be an option a year ago either

I get it, but the traits are also quite a bit different among these 3 QBs, Leavitt being the most complete player IMO. Leavitt's also the only one of those 3 who has shown the ability to maintain a healthy TD:INT ratio over a 2 year span. To be clear, I think we're in a good place with any of the three next year, but based on the traits, the consistency, and the offensive fit, Leavitt is #1 in my estimation.

Doesn't help that Bailey and Sellers both ****ed down their leg this past weekend.

Which one of the portal qbs has the intangibles to help mentor the younger qbs on the roster. Im assuming Emory would transfer out. That leaves Judd, Nickel, and Coleman coming in. Judd seems to be a career backup. So if we get a transfer who can help mentor the young qbs with reading coverages and studying the game like a pro while also increasing their own draft stock/heisman credentials. I would lean towards Leavitt if he is healthy since he would add a running dynamic and only here one year before going pro. Maybe then Nickel or Coleman ready. Mario would then have 3 straight qbs drafted at Miami in 3 consecutive years. Assuming Beck gets drafted this year.
